Dreaded ABS and ESP lights on my dashboard. Googling reveals these chaps. Is it BS - or is this 'bypassing the modern problematic part' sensible....?
sounds credible, but a vw forum would know for sure.
Probably works, not sure what the insurance implications of modifying the abs pump are though.
I have read it through and sounds perfectly credible and it says that you will retain all the saftey systems fitted.
How much do GSF parts charge for their replacement part?
VW wanted £187 plus VAT for a set of four upper wishbones for the front end of my R reg passat, GSF had them on the shelf for £96 including the VAT. The castings looked and measured exactly the same as did the rubber bushes just no Audi branding on the bushes!
There must be some customers out there on VW forums that can point you in the right direction so you retain all the safety systems and perhaps recommend the company you have found.
No doubt molgrips will be along shortly quoting his VAG wisdom....
What? I've got no VAG wisdom!
What? I've got no [s]VAG[/s] wisdom!
ftfy! 😀

The G201 pressure sensor has failed. It's inbuilt into the ABS unit. Used to be a new unit at £600+ now we're fitting repair kits, basically replacing the hydraulic part of the unit, at £130ish + fitting (about an hour). With the repair kit no reprogramming is usually needed as the original ABS ECU is retained.
Seems to be a common fault throughout, had one on my peugeot under warranty. And I fit no end on Honda's but they've got a warranty extension for the pumps.
Got a flyer for a company in colchester at work they where advertising 160ish to replace the sensor.
Mine might be slightly different reason, but on my Leon, the ESP light kept coming on when braking and would stay on until the engine/ignition turned off completely. Could feel a kind of "pop" through the brake pedal when it did it. After that, there was no ABS, no ESP/TCS nor any other TLA... and most importantly NO brakelights either!
Didn't cost much to fix. Was probably more likely to be a switch than a pressure sensor.
Are you sure the problem is with the pump?
There is a common problem with VW and Audi brake sensor switches (the one behind the pedal), this can display its self in a number of ways. On my VW Polo i had the ESP light come on, on a friends Audi A4 S-line he was forced to stop and get toed to a garage as it was linked into the cruse control.
This switch is cheep to replace (less than a tenner) if it is the problem when the brake pedal is presed the brake lights do not light. I had this problem intermittantly so be prepared to check a few times.
Good luck

hmmm, 1000 mile round trip may be a *tad* far....
My SO works for VAG and most spare parts are identical across the range except for price (Audi, VW, Seat, Skoda) eg oil filters. They just stick them in different boxes with different prices.
