I have just changed my car and have tried to notify my insurer (Allianz) but their offices are closed for the weekend! I need to use my new car. What does the law state in this circumstance?
Law states your uninsured to use your new car unless the dealer provided 24 /48hour cover to get it out the door.
Can't help on the law front, but if desperate could you get temporary short-term insurance from another provider?
As they say you cannot be insured if you have not told your insures
A vague possibility that you can drive another vehicle but iirc it has to NOT belong to you and be insured by the owner
Personally i would not risk it
Can you get something online? change or 24 hour policy?
Tis an old car (over 10yrs old) so temp cover is unlikely i think. Shame. I feel its totally irresponsible for a major insurer not to be able to be contacted like this. No wonder people drive without insurance.

I presume that's a joke ?
Can you not just change it online with your current insurer?
What is it they say about piss poor planning ?

You are already breaking it.
Unless the car is physically off the road and SORNed, then there must be an insurance policy in place for the car.

I think that it leads to your car being impounded and crushed and receiving six points on your licence. 😆

Someone drove into our old car on a bank holiday 10 years ago, on a main roundabout in Sheffield, immoveable and blocking roundabout. Swiftcover's accident line was closed for the weekend. 😕
I was going to say try the claim line, they should answer...
