My wife took out insurance recently and was phone back a week later asking for more money because she had not told them about the accident i had in my works van 3 1/2 yrs earlier 😳 ,i work for a large company so all the insurance i dealt with by them ,i did not think i would have to inform my car insurance company ? your thoughts please
I'd say they need to be told about any accident that any driver on the policy has had. Within whatever time period they specify.
Or more realistically any accident an insurance claim was made for.
You had a collision, with another vehicle/structure or person, resulting in the insurance company paying out, your new insurance is based on your driving and claims record, no matter who paid for the insurance.
Tahts why insurance goes up because youre seen as more of a risk, if you dont tell them you may well be accused of fraud, and your insurance invalidated, so no payout for repairs or whiplash.
