I stupidly got the front bumper of my new (to me) Merc Vinao caught on a kerb when reversing out of a parking space and its split underneath round to the front and a couple of small cracks on the front. New one is gonna cost a fortune. Can splits be welded (plastic) and filled or is it only minor cracks that can be repaired? Its only the plastic nothing structural.

Stapled from behind, fill and finish. Not impossible. I had the same done on my bumper

Cool, might have to ring round a few bodyshops then.

Plenty of mildly damaged bumpers get "repaired" rather than the whole bumper cover being replaced, especially on low value insurnce repairs. I think they call it "plastic welding".

Be careful.....insurance approved repairer quoted £1200 to staple/paint my bumper whereas the main dealer did a new replacement for just over £800. He said he can undercut the approved repairers everytime but the insurance companies still won't send him any work.

How good do you want it? £20 of fibreglass will hold it together well enough if you aren't fussed about cosmetics. Easy DIY job, kits available from places like Halfords

You see quite a few with just cable ties holding the two sides together...
