Over the last year or so my car has attracted a number of marks of some kind.  All a bit odd as 90% of the time it is on our driveway or in my previous employer's underground car park.

Here's a sample:

Haven't tried any cutting compounds yet, and thinking about getting a buffer and some pads.  Might that do the trick?

FTR it's a VW and has the special paint protection thingy.  Load of BS IMO but hey ho.

Have you tried just a standard polish like Autoglym and a manual application/removal? They do a little bit of cutting and that just looks like very slight oxidisation - I wouldn't expect it to need machining.

Just standard car polish applied with a soft rag then buffed off will do it.

Yep, tried Autoglym polish (and I think tar remover equivalent) as we have the kit.  Didn't achieve anything.

What's also weird is the pattern on that particular mark.  Others are a bit odd too.

Just ordered some Meguiar's compound so I'll give that a go.

Clay bar removes particles. Can’t see the picture for some reason, but from the description that’s not what the issue is.
