Why can't I hear my ipad mini when I try and plug it into the Aux on my car stereo, an android phone works fine. Do I need a special cable from Apple or the like?
Stereo is in a Peugeot, bog standard generic thing.
ipad volume is on full and not on mute one assumes?
It should* just work...
What's the 'aux', 3.5mm jack or something else?
have you checked your iPod with a set of headphones? The headphone output is fully analogue - theres' nothing clever going on there - should just work

If you are using a 3.5mm cable into the headphone port it's more than likely this. The headphone volume could be turned right down - so turn it up.
Are you plugging it in via the headphone socket, or the proprietary connector on the ipad?
As above, what's the aux-in on the car? Just a headphone socket, or something more sophisticated...?
Assuming it's a headphone socket, then it will probably be the volume on the ipad. You'll need to whack it up.
Thanks people, Aux is just 3.5 fittings on both.
Will have a proper play today.
On my car, when you are in the Aux setting hitting menu brings up some settings specific to the aux input. One of them is 'level' and there's 3 options of 'loudness' so you can adjust the base volume of the aux input - I guess it just alters the gain on that input.
It might be worth looking at that. It could be that the headphone output of the ipad is a lot lower than the Android device you used, so you might be able to compensate for that if your car has a similar aux level adjust....
