So there you are doing head down hammer typing an e-mail, your lines into it, safe in the knowlege you can spell check, grammar check, then you look up FLIPPIN CAP'S LOCK ON.

Do you:-

Re type the lot.
Add a note saying sorry about cap's lock

Are you:-
The type of pork sword on receiving opt 2 will still say stop shouting?

I wouldn't worry about it.

Your punctuation abuse is a far bigger problem than your use of capitals.

Copy the text into Word (providing using Windows & office) and then use one of the font options to switch to lower case.

And would seemingly be wholly unaffected by those pesky uppercase characters anyway.

err - it IS built-in to Macs (at least those with OS X Lion, anyway)

Select the text typed incorrectly and right-click. In the Transformations menu, choose something appropriate to what you want to do…

Allthegear, thanks for that, I have only recently been blessed with a mac.

I knew the mac was the right choice for me, now I just need to know what I am doing! 🙂

Copy into Word, shift+F3 toggles between initial cap, all caps, or all lower case. Copy back into email, send, and relax, happy in the knowledge you've made the world a calmer and quieter place.

In windows you can remap the CAPS key to be something else (like an extra shift button) to stop this happening. Do you really need a CAPS key? Big improvement for my clumsy typing.

And if it's on STW, you can get an add-on for firefox. There's one for Thunderbird too.

It's in Mail in Snow Leopard too. Has been there since Panther IIRC.

It's also in Outlook if you choose to use such tosh.

Try SharpKeys, very useful utility that allows you to prevent some keys from working (e.g. Insert, Caps Lock, Windows Start), or change their function.
