bro is selling a saxophone on ebay. he submitted it yesterday but it still doesnt come up in searches so we dont think anyone can see it.
a quick google suggests it may take up to 24 hours to appear which seems daft as you lose a day, but it does show as active in his listings.
he's never sold anything on there before so doesnt have feedback, but i spose you have to start somewhere.
any ideas as to why it may not show? if he sends me the link i can see it, but if i search on ebay even with the exact title i cant see it.
i hear that ebays a bit crap these days anyway, so is there a better platform for selling stuff? hes emigrating next year so is starting to sell of a load of stuff so needs a reliable way of selling really. and dont say stw classifieds! 😀
cheers
i hear that ebays a bit crap these days anyway,
I sell odds and sods on it, irregularly and find it fine. Everything I put on starts at £1 even if I expect decent money for it. Putting a starting price near what you want seems to put anyone off bidding, a reserve price is even worse. That and a decent description with plenty of photos means I've never had any piss taking with returns either. Time it to end at 7 or 8pm also when people are available for last minute bidding.
Have you used the phone app to try and find it? Never had this problem with stuff not visible.
nope, just tried to find it on my phone app too and still cant see it.
not a stealth ad by any means as probs a niche sale but this is the link my bro sent me https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/394882963954
id be interested if you can see that but also not see it in a search, same as us? anything you can spot on it that may make it be excluded from a search?
thanks
Link works, but like you can’t find it in search. Details all look correct.
Only things that stick out are:
1) you’ve put a hyphen in yas-280, no one else seems to
2) zero feedback. This a) would put me off a big value item like this and b) may be putting eBay off listing it in searches (but that seems a bit harsh).
Personally, I’d de-list it before anyone bids, sell a couple of much lower value items to get some feedback going and a bit of practice, then put the sax up again.
Same as above. Can see it but no search results.
Typos in the description, not the end of the world but off putting. Also putting "excellent condition" is very subjective.
What goldfish says. Sell something cheap and desirable and leave good feedback for the purchaser.
1) you’ve put a hyphen in yas-280, no one else seems to
That should make it -easier- to search for, surely? I C&Ped the ad title into Search verbatim and couldn't find it. Maybe worth an email to eBay?
i can see it,looks fine
i can see it,looks fine
you can see it from a search? or just from the link like the rest of us?
sorry, no, cant see it in a search

Could it be the new-ness of the account rather than the listing maybe. (presuming its a newly opened account) Wonder if it takes time for new accounts to activate / propagate - perhaps something to prevent scammers and bots creating multiples accounts and listings
Might be worth looking if theres any steps still to be taken to verify the account
Shows in search for me now.
My listings appear straight away but maybe there's some additional checks on new sellers?
yes, he was on live chat last night where they told him there was nothing wrong with the listing and can take up to 48 hours to show!
and yes, looks to be live now, thanks for your help.
