Following on from the other thread I've got view ranger and uploaded the trails.
Thought I'd try it today. Put my phone in my running arm band and strapped it to my stem. Couldn't see a bloody thing. Too much glare from the see through screen.
I could get a holder that doesn't have a cover and buy an anti glare screen protector but the phone will still be open to the elements. Today was really cloudy so it must be worse in the sun.If I angled it so that it didn't glare I'm not sure I could read the screen.
It's like trying to read an iPad outdoors when a kindle works so much better.
Any ideas? Should I cut my losses and just buy a proper gps?

This (and battery life) is why I didn't persevere with a phone on my bars for too long before buying a proper GPS device.

Are you wearing shades? I find it less of issue if you take your shades off.

you can get non-relective screen protectors for a lot of phones, but you will need a decent one or the resolution will be poor.

That's what I did after struggling with & destroying a couple of phones.

You can get motorbike phone/gps holders with a shroud round the screen but might be a bit bulky for cycling.

Polarising shades?

Completely eliminates glare when looking at my phone in portrait.

Downside is it also completely obscures the screen when looking at it in landscape...
