This might be nothing at all to be concerned about, but thought I would check here as it's not something I've encountered on eBay before.
I bought a PS4 controller, advertised "as new, in box" from a UK seller.
It arrived promptly, looked genuine in a sealed Sony box with all paperwork etc. Unfortunately it was defective, the left analogue stick didn't work properly.
I initiated an ebay return and the seller refunded me promptly. I printed the return label and posted it to what looks like a private address - a flat in London.
It has been returned to me, with a post office label saying "addressee gone away".
My return is still open with eBay, i.e. not flagged as returned. The seller is still active, with other listings. I have messaged them via eBay to find out what they want me to do with it, but no response.
Will this cause me a problem with eBay if they see I've been refunded but don't appear to them to have returned the item?
If you posted the product to the right address I fail to see how this is your fault. Just make sure to contact ebay and keep records of this.
I had this. Some sellers just use fake addresses so they don't have to deal with returns.
I messaged eBay showing proof of posting and the returned product and they said fine and processed the refund. Since you've got the refund already, and have messaged the seller, I'd just tell eBay you're going to give them 14 days after which you'll dispose of it.
Cheers all. Jakester, that sounds like a plan 👍
