Aside from being able to shoot video up to 1080p, and a 3MP larger sensor... Is it worth the upgrade? I know both are fairly old bits of kit now, but my 50D I bought 2nd hand off this forum 3 years ago has been ace, but I’ve just been offered a very low shutter count 60D body with kit lens for only £200. I figure my 50D even though far from mint is still worth £100-150 maybe.
Is it worth it?
It's generally reckoned that the odd numbers are better than evens. 30D was good. 40D not so. 50D was good. 60D not so. Its a good camera and a step up from the 50D but what does the 50D not do for you?
There are marginal improvements all round but not so as to make it a must have upgrade.
If the only thing you are after is better video of the kids/grandkids then use the finds to buy a dedicated video camera.
For the average user viewing photos on phone/tablet/laptop there is marginal improvement to be seen. As you say...both are old technology nowadays.
