Is there any value to an old/worn Granta canadian caneo? Friend has one he needs moving on (& transporting from 100 miles away), and I'm interested but don't want to insult/take advantage.

Cash value or smiles value? No idea about the former but if you have space for it and think you’ll use it then go for it. Are you wondering whether to offer some money as a token of goodwill, or looking to sell on I mean. Someone gave me an old kayak. I love it and would never in a million years have thought to use one otherwise.

Assuming the glass fibre is good and seats are ok, yes there's value in a useable boat.
However, many of the Granta canoes are 'cheap n cheerful' hire boats. Think a rigid Apollo bike. Functional, but not as functional as a nicer bike.

Iirc, Granta go back to the 60's so it could be very old.

I just sold two plastic, well worn, Nova Craft Prospectors (Think a Boardman Hardtail) for £300/350 each.

I just bought an immaculate Wenonah Prospector (Think Trek FS) with a bunch of stuff for £1100, which was a bargain.

Personally I would suggest maybe £75-150 depending on how generous you feel.

Hmmmm as above Granta is a fairly cheap make that was most active in the 70s and 80s. My first kayak was a Granta in 1980! Went and picked it up from the Ramsey ‘factory’

I would think that anything from Granta now would be a free to very cheap proposition - Swift Canoes they are not…

Total good will, TBH I think he'd be happy if I could get it moved, but I didn't want to take the piss, if it did have some value. I like the idea of splashing down the severn, nothing too serious, and there might be space on the garage roof.... just need to convince another friend with a roof rack, he needs another holiday local to boats location.

Cheers for the replies.
