Me being an utter plebtard (and not noticing finer details) i've just won and paid for a Microsoft Surface 3 on eBay. THEN I realise it's not the PRO 3 which is bigger and better blah blah blah and i've probably paid over the odds.
I've contacted the seller with a polite message asking to cancel the sale.
Can I do anything to force the cancellation of the sale?
Yes, I'm a big tit too....
You can not pay, but its too late for that 🙂 . Not really much you can do other than speak to the seller and see if he'll be nice. You can kick up a fuss when it arrives and say it has a scratch or doesn't work but that's getting a bit nasty. He might think you will do this so agree to cancel to avoid it happening though
No and likewise from a sellers point of view you can't pull it after sold, I (missus) coxked up after I'd agreed a sale here.. Still feel guilty about that..
It's not too late to not pay, unfortunately. I've sold a few things to time wasters and they haven't paid, miss too much hassle to chase them, relist and get over it is the best policy.

i've already paid, i'm a good ebayer, if clumsy 🙂
If it's a business seller they have to accept returns anyway so would be less hassle & cheaper for them to cancel and refund (if not you can return for a full refund). Private seller depends on them.

Just checked, says private seller and no returns accepted.
I bet when they deliver it you're not in.
Ask to refund minus selling fee, everyone wins (ish).
I don't think there's any way to force it but the 2 main things are, everyone on ebay is just a person so it's worth asking (I would refund you personally, I'm pretty sure they'll get a fee refund as long as they cancel it properly). and the other is, all sellers know a buyer can make so much hassle for them that it's not worth being a hardass.
I do about 100 sales a month and it's just a given for me that about 5-10% will contact me after the sale because they can't read. It's just the downside of the same process that causes people to get excited and bid high, so I figure I can't complain. Anyone that doesn't bother to contact me gets a nonpaying bidder strike, everyone else gets a nice email back and a full refund if need be.
Email, state you didn't notice the model your were bidding on, ask them if they would consider offering it to the next bidder (which defaults to the same price) if they decline then bite the bullet and enjoy the tablet. You haven't overpayed that much as the other bidder also bidded to within £1 or so of the final sale price.
I recently trialled a (non pro) 3 at work. No noticeable difference for 99% of use with the P3, and not far off the P4 for day to day.
You bought it, surely. If you don't like it...sell it.
emailed the guy explaining that i'd genuinely not known there was a surface 3 and a Pro 3 and was looking for a Pro model and he replied straight away saying no problem and has refunded me, total gentleman!
total gentleman!
Absolutely, give him a box of milk tray.
