You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
Been a while since I had to do it and since I wrote this thread Sky cancelled but I've done it again.
What really wound me up this time was they sent me a letter about my deal running out, fair enough, however, included was a glossy flyer, individually tailored to my account, it went on to list how much I was saving on each of the products but not once did it tell me how much I was paying for each item or how much my "new amazing deal" would be, on checking my online account it showed it going up over 25%. I'm sure there would be thousands of people who'd just go, wow look at all those savings I'll let it run and then be tied in again.
On principal I'd really like to say **** off never again but household pressure may become an issue 🤣.
It runs out on the 14th and haven't had a call yet so we'llsee what happens this time....
You know if you set a reminder for a few days before your contract runs out and ring up to haggle you can usually avoid this kind of brinksmanship? Or do you just enjoy the drama?
I'm not in a contract, havent been for a year and you're wrong, the deal is much better once you've cancelled. Few mates have worked at the call centre at pride park, one in particular got me some 'special deals' applued in the past but he's left now.
As mentioned in his other thread you're better off off cancelling and going through the 'drama' as you get a better offer. The best offer of all is not renewing as it costs nothing per month.
Must admit we had no Sky for 3 weeks whilst decorating, surviving on Prime, iPlayer and Netflixs, didn't really miss the sky, it feels like a hark back to the old days, surfing through the channel guide and still finding nothing on. Our broadband and phone are through Sky so won't be cancelling due to that ballache but if it was telly alone I could live without.
We have not had sky for about 6 months now.
Looking at what to do for the new house, and at £42 a month for fibre, telephone and sky Q entertainment it seams hard to beat. In fact £27 per month through topcashback
Also sky is a much nicer interface than Freeview
When we cancelled sky we didn’t get one single phone call / letter offering us a deal
Sacked Sky TV off over a year ago. Never missed it.
Cancelled the phone/internet a few months ago. We were well out of contact but still received letters telling us we owed money for early termination. Called them and then they started with the sell! Bastards.
Think how Dave Brailsford feels. He can’t leave for a year.

Exactly. Ours went up at the end of a deal so I called them and saved £8/month and upgraded from broadband to fibre (double the speed) at the same time. Winner winner chicken dinner.

We have just got the phone and broadband - you don’t have to have the telly.
With the choice of Netflix etc I didn’t think Sky was much of an option anymore; actually sounds old fashioned nowadays😟
ip tv is the way to go.
full sky package, no cost
Not had sky since leaving my parents house 23 years ago. It's quite dated now with the likes of Netflix, Amazon and 'other' options.
My sister still has the 'big' packages and netflix - must be costing an arm and a leg
I got that same letter, immediately decided to quit just on principle but the thought of having to deal with any of the other grasping incompetents on the market just depressed me so much that I just let it be, better the grasping incompetent you know etc. etc...
Spoke to BT and renewed for less plus they added the UHD package for nothing. Has just enough sport for me. Phone, BB and TV for 52 a month. Not too bad when I hear sky and Virgin packages now hitting 3 figures.
I dream of access to internet fast enough to stream even iPlayer, let alone Netflix or Prime....
But in a village that is clearly not economically viable for Openreach to build FTTP out to, looks like we’re stuck if we want more than freeview.

How's the 4g in your area? My phone line could only provide 2mb (on fibre!/) and that was unstable.
Gone with EE home 4gee, it's fantastic. 55mb download and it's only showing 2 bars of signal.
Breadcrumb, depends on how big/how many data vampires you have in the house. Gets pretty spendy if you use a lot of data.

So just cancel the TV and keep the broadband/phone then?
Simple enough.

Flaky. Not unusual to fall back to 2G.
I used to work in telecoms and the futility of trying to get it improved is so frustrating....

Lots of examples of this around.

Put a stop to my Amazon Prime. When I first had it ALL the tv was free now certain films and tv series you have to buy or rent. FFS that's why I was paying Prime, not for the delivery but TV.
May give Netflix ago.
