Anybody been to Canada recently, how did sort out a quarantine plan?
I'm planning on going to visit my son in Canada next month and am seeking advise about what to put in my quarantine plan and anything else I might need to know?
Two separate groups of friends have been recently, feb half term. Both had to quarantine for 24-48 hours on arrival awaiting a PCR test result.
You can do this in residence of your choosing.
(Recent ski trip to Banff flying into Calgary, also seeing my son)
On arrival they totally ignore whatever you completed in your ArriveCan app and you can be randomly selected for a PCR. If you get selected you need to give them a quarantine location and phone number - such as your hotel. You are legally required to remain quarantined until you obtain your negative PCR results. You must phone in each day and report your symptoms of lack of. If you fail to comply there’s the prospect of jail time, fines and deportation.
Back in the real world, this was Alberta, no one gives a F. I carried on with my holiday as planned.
YMMV
Lots of Provinces just relaxed a lot of COVID restrictions (last week) so past rules may no longer apply. Also some other loosening of restrictions will take affect first week in April so depends where you are going and when you will arrive...
No PCR testing required from the 15th march afaik.
My mum arrived on Wednesday. Followed the arrivecan guidelines and all good.
Random testing was being implemented but she wasn't selected.
