Apparently it's good fitness training, but I can't do it. How hard can it be? Little girls all over the country can do it, but it's beyond me 🙁

Yes I used to box (still spa etc for recreation). Enjoyable way of doing indoor cardio which I normally find boring.

Yeah of course. I had a sister, there was no way I was going to let her be able to do stuff I couldn't. French skipping also.

Yep, took much practice. Find/found it much easier to do the bounce (two feet) rather than alternating/running on spot. Have moved to double unders, just because really!

Just stick at it.
It's like juggling, once you get it you wonder what all the fuss was about. 😉

I can. Used to be able to do the cross-hands and doubles, stuff like that. Was fit back then, not done it for a while!
You just need a sense of rhythm.

Our daughter (5 yrs old) just clicked - doing it perfectly with a little two-feet hop between jumps and also quickly without the jumps between . Amazingly graceful.

I have no ridum according to the wife. None at all. But I can skip. I vaguely remember it taking a bit of practice, but once you get the hang of it it's easy.

Yes it's very good for the cardio. Just be careful of light fittings if you're going to do it indoors. You would soon warm up outdoors

Yep, took a while but just clicked. We do 4 x 3 minute rounds which is a good warm up.

The right length of rope is the key. Buy a leather rope with handles that let you cut down the rope, start with it too long. Cut off an inch at a time until it feels good.

You should be able to get to about 100-120 RPM with some practice. Don't be put off by sore shins. Ridiculously simple but effective exercise.

It's just practice. I did some half hour sessions at our leisure centre and went from happy to not smack myself in the back of the head with the rope to just about managing some cross the hands over stuff in a couple of months. I found it pretty much as hard as running as a cardio workout. Boring as running too.

Btw, her twin is utterly useless, can't do it at all. Amazing how things suddenly click.

Did a bit of boxing as a kid, learnt then.

Tried again last summer. Lasted 20 seconds and collapsed in a heap!

I didn't know anyone couldn't!

Hula-hooping though, that's black magic.

I can power skip.

Unfortunately, it's the type of skipping that Roger mellie linked to.

The trick to hula hooping is don't gyrate.

Backwards and forwards only.
