after a tough few months, wife and i  (plus small pooch) are looking for a couple of days away.  despite mucho googling of cottages and searches on booking.com, we cant find anything that suits.  maybe we're being picky, maybe unrealistic on price, dont know.

we've had top recommendations on here before and had some great short breaks from those, so thought we'd try again, see if theres a hidden gem somewhere 🙂

criteria....... 2 or 3 days, start of march (fri/sat/sun?), no more than 2hrs drive from lincoln, dog friendly, walking distance to a lovely, dog-friendly pub (open fire a bonus), nice dog walk from the front door, and wife insists on a sex pond hot tub.

i mentioned we may be being unrealistic on price as we've seen some lovely options at a few hundred quid a night which is more than we can justify.  id be happier finding something for no more than £150 p/n.

any recommendations oh wise ones?

thank you

I cant think of anywhere specific for your criteria, but cottages.com or petspyjamas.com might be better places to look, being holiday cottage specialists. Worth a try

Look on Sykes Cottages - I’ve never been to a bad one with them yet.

Hmm. No hot tub but my parents have one about 25miles south of Lincoln, definitely within your 2hrs, which ticks all the other boxes

Or is that too close?

Quick search throws up this…

Take a look at this Sykes property! https://www.sykescottages.co.uk/property/1046759?rfx=14307

Discover more properties on the Sykes app here: https://sykes.onelink.me/VPvA/39d77d2

Just search on Airbnb. They have the best search tool. Lots of national companies list through them too. So once you find it one on Airbnb see if it’s listed cheaper else where.

Insider tip from my sisters who’ll soon be letting out a cottage. A standard way of managing the property is to offer whole weeks only. However if the property hasn’t been let 6 weeks to go then it’s offered as a short break.

So ironically waiting a week might help

Shop around. Since COVID I've found Airbnb more expensive than Booking.com or Sykes Cottages for the same cottage

Around my way (Cotswolds) there's very little sub £200 a night with a hot tub. Cheapest in the area is a little over £500 for 3 nights  - but isn't a cottage, or particularly private.

We specifically didn't install one when we put on our Airbnb as the installation and running costs effectively double the per night stay for everyone - regardless of if they use it or not (as you have to treat them like every guest has used it).

If you want sub £150 and want something special, id look for property's with a sauna instead and pitch them to the wife. The  installation cost is about the same, but running and cleaning costs are minimal in comparison to a hot tub.

We too think AirBnB is more expensive and becoming much less reliable.

I’ll repeat you don’t have to book through Airbnb to take advantage of their search tool

Have you looked at forestholidays.co.uk? All their cabins have a tub and a woodburner.
