As per title, how much money would you need to be paid to throw away your reputation, dignity, pride, credibility and self-respect?

You would feel pretty low afterwards, but what amount of cash would make it okay?

£250 apparently....

Genuinely, I don't know. I did turn down the opportunity to earn several thousand pounds as it would have precipitated the redundancy of some of my former colleagues. That's not quite the same as just being g8ven the money of course .

Damn!!! Scotroutes beat me to it 😂😂😂

In all seriousness, it'd have to be a hell of a lot. As I've got older, I put an increasing premium on bring able to sleep at night knowing I've acted in as honourable / decent way as possible.

And if it was a question of losing reputation (in my world, personal and professional reputations are very intertwined), the figure would therefore have to based on earnings for remaining years of work. So around £1.8M. Add a "pain premium" to account for bad vibes etc, £3M would be the financial number I guess.

A few drinks and a “Louise” jiggling her breasts was all it took for me

questions like 'what if someone kidnapped your sister, and would damage her if you didnt make gay animal porn for them', or 'there's kids out there, never seen a good meal, and you demand a big rare steak in the restaurant next door every week' spring to mind.

£3m sounds good, but I have to ask myself, is it my fault, am I selfish? Was it worth doing anything, if it 's not love?

I know someone who frequently does what scotroutes £250 comment refers to for anything down to the price of a burger. She will whinge and complain about the tiniest thing (‘we were in the waiting room 10minutes longer than I would expect between our spa treatments’) and then ask whoever what they are going to do to compensate her for her inconvenience. To the point where her friends stopped recommending shops/people/services to her because shed try and rip them off, without fail.

the spa people gave her 50% off her next trip btw, so north of £100 saved there.

also heard a story about a well off lady who had ordered in 2 custom specced £6k+ tri bikes, they turned up and as she was in the shop paying for them, she got a parking ticket out the front of the shop. She storms back in and demands the store manager refunds the cost of the ticket, or she’s cancelling the deal (not sure how she planned to do that, but she was a solicitor so...) leaving the shop with £12k worth of customised kit. Obvs the manager paid up and everyone was happy, ish.

I saw the thread that the op clearly posted this about.

Yes I agree that the guy didnt cover himself in glory but starting a separate thread about it isnt really called for. He was called out, his reputation is damaged on here. This thread just stinks of trying to drum up a lynch mob and to some extent bullying, which isnt cool.

None of these things exist. 💡

I think this thread is a bit out of order.  Starting a thread with the seeming purpose of pouring scorn on another user is not on IMHO.

I kind of agree, but crikey that is an epic thread there with that brilliant reveal of the classified ad. The internet never forgets!

I must have missed a lot. Don't understand anything that has been said about other threads. Which threads are they?
