Apart from 23 and 24, I had to guess on all of them, and scored 11.

So now just leaves the one hard question, France or Canada?

Quebec?

10; those questions are ridiculous.

Is that what 'the establishment' think is general knowledge about the UK and what it means to be a Bristish Citizen?

OMG

Failed too.

Maybe that's the trick - that anyone who cares enough to get the questions right is the wrong sort of person...

Why were recruitment centres set up in the West Indies in the 1950s?

I wasn't around in the 50's 🙄

Slightly concerned that you had to guess what the speed limit was on a single carriageway. 😀

You scored 9 out of a possible 24

You have failed, the pass mark was 75% According to the Life in the UK Test, you have insufficient knowledge of the English language or of life in the UK to remain

I am thick and I will go and pack my bags now

You scored 20 out of a possible 24

Well done! You are above pass level. You have, according to the test, successfully revealed your knowledge of the English language and of life in the United Kingdom

\o/ My ability to retain useless facts comes through again!

I got 8, 14, 18 and 24 wrong. Nearly put 'Hide from them' on the trick or treat question. Which I thought was a bit odd being on there, always thought of trick or treating as being more of an American custom.

To be fair I think all the answers to the Halloween one are frequently used in the UK. 😀

17.

I wonder why the Gruanidad picked those questions out of the ones available, and why state "you have insufficient knowledge of the English language or of life in the UK to remain" when it has nothing to do with _remaining_ in the UK but is about coming to the UK ?

12. I came here 55 years ago when I was 1. I seem to have managed ok despite not knowing (or caring) how many constituencies there are.
What I need now is a nice cup of tea.

It has nothing to do with "coming to the UK" and quite a lot to do with fulfilling the requirements needed to be granted "indefinite leave to remain" immigration status.

And if you don't like the questions picked by the Guardian then perhaps you might prefer the "Official Practice Citizenship Test".....see if you have any better luck with those questions :

Ooops, 18/24, right on the passmark, but I've already left. Confused now, should I come back?

(As with others, quite a few guesses, and the one about which groups were the most represented immigrants in the 1980s I think was odd, as it listed a random combination of 4/5 countries, I suppose if on of those was wrong the whole lot was wrong, should have been multiple choice).

18, and I would dispute that you can attend a hospital without a letter - you might not get seen, but you can definitely attend! 6-8 were wrong too.

Apparently this is true- but that's rubbish, there's walk-in minor injuries centres at loads of hospitals. And if I want to get my leg checked out I speak to my consultant, not my GP, even though I've been discharged.

Agree, subtle attempt to con the johnny come latelys into reducing load on secondary care methinks.

Mind you as I got 17/24 and most here did little better if we all have to leave there may be no-one left to see you when you get to hospital GPs letter or no.

Personally my vote is for New Zealand, if only because that is where Mrs Ratadog will be heading. Wonder what their entrance exam is like?

Heh! Ten out of ten! 😀

(Goes off to celebrate by getting drunk in town centre, insult women, get thrown out of pub, have a fight, urinate in shop doorway, vomit copiously over self, end up in A+E with unexplained head injuries)

Thank God I'm British!
