Wife and kids are away this week so, i've reverted to a slob.

Beer levels are high and rising, no way near bad film saturation but, i don't think i can stomach any more bad food.

What's happening to me? I just want a salad (don't worry, i won't give in).

No, it's not possible. If you need inner strength look at all those places that don't do pork. It's not going well. Also it is possible to od on the hideous crap that is beef bacon

Maybe try pulled pork for lunch instead of bacon?

Then you can have bacon for dinner.

You have become weak.

As you wouldn't expect a beginner on a bike to ride to the top of a mountain the first time, you need to train and work through the pain in order to become King Of The Bacon.

Depends how you're having it

Neat?

in a roll?
in a baguette?
in pasta?
Full english?
[insert other options)

Bacon butty every day this week with brown sauce.

I think i just need to spice things up a bit by adding sausage. Yes, more pork will get me out of this funk.

Now, pizza or burger for lunch. Sigh, life's so hard.

Your body's pretty good at letting you know what it needs. If you're craving salad, you should probably try and get some greens in.

You don't have to make a salad, like you think a girl might. Bag of baby spinach, shove a couple of fist-fulls in your face. Cherry toms too if you fancy.

Ahem....

its got lettuce AND tomatoes on

Ticks all the boxes for having all the food groups (including bacon) represented, surely?

Sometimes, if I've been on a bender for three or four days I will have a chicken Caesar salad for breakfast.

With bacon, obvs.

Al Murray was right. Bacon is proof that there is a God. If I wasn't on my phone I'd post a link.

I'm just going to push on through and get my bacon stocks nice and high.

I foresee some lean lean times ahead when Mrs Sandwicheater finds out what i've been eating.

A good middle ground. On nice bread with fresh ingredients it is pretty good!

Grab a tub of cottage cheese with pineapple and use the bacon as a spoon.

Tasty, protein rich eating utensil...

Used to get it in Saudi. Cured beef of some sort (not the good sort). It's rubbish. Like that revolting non alcoholic malt beverage we used to get.

This. If my wife was away for a week I would make curry every single night.

Dunno about bacon, I don't eat it, or most other pork products, (apart from salami and pepperoni), but King Henry I died from a surfeit of lampreys, so I'd watch out for those if I were you.

I've just discovered bacon jerkey from a chap who sells billtong on the treacle market in Macclesfield. Its the most wonderful thing i've every tasted.

I'm starting to wonder if this is what the "special stuff" was in League of Gentlemen

In my student days I once averaged 6+ rashers a day for just over a week, and I'm not dead yet.

I did have a bacon and mayonnaise sandwich, after I'd run out of bread. Bacon makes an acceptable bread substitute.

Well, i'm still alive.

Burgers with bacon and Stilton for dinner and a token lettuce leaf and some gherkins, nom nom nom.

Bacon for breakfast this morning was tough going. I think my body cut saliva production in an attempt to stop me shoving any more bacon in.

Pffft, i don't need your saliva, that's why i've got a coffee.

Well my better half is away for a week now so to continue your brave test (and since you've tried bacon) I shall dine on curry thrice a day for 7 days to see if you can overdose on that. I imagine curried porridge will be hard work

If the pig rashers are getting a bit boring just add some garnish like maybe ... Burger toast.

Tried a new one today (trying to stick to approx £1.50 per day food budget so trawl late-night reduced shelves)

Colcannon (sp?) Irish mashy cabbagy stuff (39p)
Half a pack of Kale (50p)
Half a pack of cooking bacon (33p)

Method:

Microwave mash
Fry bacon in a little oil
Add kale to bacon and stir-fry the pile until it looks smaller

Dump entire mess on plate and scoff. Mustard on the side. Delicious.

Half a pack of cooking bacon

What's the difference between that and "non cooking bacon"?

Aside from one breast which went in today's lunch, I stuffed a whole 2.1 kg chicken over the period of last night.

A minor achievement in comparison, but still quite proud. And full.

Yeah it's nonsense. Says 'cooking bacon' on the packet presumably because 'trimmings' don't sound as marketable.

I would definitely recommend cooking all and every bacon before eating.

''Do you buy that 'cooking bacon', or go for the finest 'eating bacon'? See also 'apples'.
