Ziggy. Nearly 12 months old. Ziggy was a bit naughty a few weeks back and this morning his bitch had 3 puppies. There were 4 but sadly after nearly 24 hours in labour the first didn't come out and she had to have the other three out by c-section.
He's ace though. Always so excited when I'm home from work. Pic was taken after a haircut and don't he look pleased with himself?

Same. She's not a fan of the fireworks that some urchins keeps setting off from the woods near our house. So day naps are maximised.
Roxie asserting her authority with Fred and Bertie, two quite small but very boisterous 7 month old labs. She's getting pretty adept at the body-slam technique!

I walked to the shop without him, I wasn’t allowed to leave him again.
Roxie had her first professional groom. Definitely smells better 🙂 Appears to be still damp and a bit traumatised. She's got a few months to get over it.

Apparently we take too long to serve Her Highness her tea after the 5pm walk.

A rare short walk this morning!
She not normally one for rejecting the cold!

Proper frosty walk this morning.
These 2 enjoyed the woods yesterday.
If we get snow that stays i think i will work from home tomorrow so we can go play in the snow at lunch
Mrs_fiat is at home with the hounds while I’m away on business. So Jake’s taken the hump. “When’s dad back? Why am I attached to this string? Why can’t you throw this stick? I’m bored. Do you want me to be bored? I’ve things to do, places to sniff, squirrels to chase, deer to be scared of in the forest at night and you’ve got me here attached to this string!”

Not quite enough snow for Roxie to really experience it properly. I'm hoping we get a dump so she can disappear completely in a snow bank 🙂 They do like it tho, both here and Lola very frisky this morning!

We had a good ammount of snow here and my two love it.
Here is the youngest having fun when we went out at lunch

Luca loves the snow too,
Her ladyship chivvying me up for the summit treats this morning - no snow in this corner of Scotland, just a stunning, frosty morning.
She’s now crashed out on the sofa with a tummy full of chicken.

This dog is happiest when it's as cold as possible!
Bitterly cold last night up on Holcombe Moor / Peel Tower, Canicross running today.

Them: RM we were expecting you for an early morning ride.
Me: Yeah, sorry had some stuff that needed my attention.
The stuff:

It was past Oscar’s bedtime in the pub so he made himself comfortable.
@mikkel - they look exactly the same. I bet there's a lot of "wasn't me, definitely the other dog' going on 🙂
As a dog owner, an important - oft forgotten - activity is to ensure you've measured your sofas before getting a new dog.

As you can see, we've failed to calibrate our sofa/dog coefficient correctly 🙂

Lola is defo giving off heavy 'get off my butt' vibes to the pup there 🙂
Took them out this morning just into the fields by our house as too windy to risk the woods. Absolutely filthy weather, sideways rain, still cold, just miserable. Both dogs decided that today would be an "my ears are for decoration and looking cute' day and ran around getting muddy for blooming ages before the "call of the big gravy bone" became too much.
40 mins outside, 20 mins drying the silly buggers off. I love our dogs but sometimes.....
Exciting week of firsts for Ted. First snow and first haircut. Good times!

Our house horse is 6 years old today.
It has been 3 years of adventures, daftness and epic naps.

I know we all think our dogs are, well, the dogs bollocks, but what about this story of a good boy going above and beyond. Awesome job PD Bear.
Santa's little helper sleeping on the job again.

Did somebody say "Biscuit"?

Miss D. Queen. Middle name "Rama" 🙂 Honestly the state of that!

Damn I miss my boys. Every time I see pictures of dogs I miss them.
People ask me why I stop in the street to fuss the dogs of people that are walking around town; it's because I miss my boys. Cat is fine. Cat nice. Cat is a cat and he is a different thing to having a dog.

If you are ever in peebles Willard just bring treats. Or wear a jacket that might look like it has treats.
If anyone reaches for a pocket in her vicinity she sits on their feet* ?
*If they show an interest in her. She pretty good at ignoring people not interested and she isn't allowed near anyone unless they show an interest.

Awake when there's the chance of food:

Once that chance has passed:

The law says dog-owners without a dog at hand need to bother other people’s dogs in pubs and out in the street.
I have a ride buddy who does this - a lot. Dog friendly cafes are his catnip.
Though as a non-dog owner, I say hello to random dogs on the street or in cafes if the owners are OK with it.
Question re nails please
Do you trim your dogs nails yourself? If so, how do you do it ?
So no pics ... I gave up trying to post pics years ago
We just have some dog nail cutters and get on with it. They seem mostly okay with it once you've done it a few times. Roxie gets a proper nail bar upgrade when she goes to the groomers.
On the if you don't have a dog but you see a dog thing.. I cannot pass a dog on a ride with greeting it with 'hello woofer, good day to be out eh?" and anyone that has a dog in a pub, well their going to make a new friend (even if they don't want one!)
oooooh is it tea time?

No

Ours luckily wears their claws down quite well from all the hooning around.
So only ever had to use the clippers when one of them have split a claw.
Once a week every week and with a battery powdered dremel. Takes 5 minutes and he isn't too bothered by it, doesnt like his back feet being done but it rains slices of sausage when the job is done so shuts up. As dogs get older it's even more important because they have to change the posture of their feet if nails are too long which is even tougher when arthritis takes it's toll.
Nail cutting- ours have always worn down their main claws naturally (lots of walking being Labradors + some of that on tarmac so naturally a bit more abrasive). so only have to do the dew claws once in a while.
We do have 'proper' dog nail clippers these days thatwe got to use on our daughter's wabbits. But before them...
...Park Tool CN10 cable/housing cutters. Most effective!
No idea where he got the idea from.
Roksy had an unscheduled visit to the vets because mincepies
She had a morphine based emetic that might make her a little sedated...but actually I think she's off her teats

@Drac from personal observation any man with a moderately cute dog will (whatever his age) always have an opening conversation gambit with younger women. If said dog is a gangly puppy take the larger of the dirty sticks to fend them off!
Dogs definitely open up conversations with people as they come over to say hello to them, the owner of the bar is also a friend.
Last time lola went to the pub. A woman came up took the lead off me and took her to her table for everyone to giv her attention ?.
Biggest issue was getting the little traitor to leave.
@tthew - is guy martin your dog's father??
