This is Hope, another foster. Absolute sweetheart of a Staffy pup. I was very fortunate that I had an ops job which was static for a couple of years and a boss that fully supported the pups in work to help with their socialisation and confidence.

And the water saved by a canine powered pre-dishwasher “rinse”?

I am pretty sure Lola will go out one of two ways.

Old age

Or

Dishwasher decapitation.

Danny - rescue mutt from Taiwan. Not the greatest fan of other dogs but loves people (and snow). He's also found lots of "secret" mountain bike trails 😄

Sadly we lost the black and tan one just a week into the New Year at the ripe age of 14 and a bit, which leaves Huey on his tod 😪

@vlad_the_invader, how bad is your handsome hound with other dogs?. Lola wasn't great at meeting others, never really  a distance issue just would get close then pabic. We had a massive improvement with a scent class. In a room with other dogs and a job to do she has improved dramatically with just ignoring them. And other much worse dogs in the class have settled down very quickly.

She's now a bit of a stooge, we help other people as she doesn't (and never has) react to being barked at so we can walk past and provide a controlled opportunity for training other pups.

@joshvegas It's fantastic when you can help others out like that isn't it.
When we first got Stanley he was an absolute monster to walk, any other dog no matter the distance would have him standing on his high legs and making *halloween noises*.

Once we got him through that (with a bit of help from a behavourist) he went completely the other way and just seems to 'get' how to meet other reactive dogs (in a controlled environment). So like you, we help, because we know exactly what it is like to be on the other end of the leash!

We had a massive improvement with a scent class.

Me and Henry, the Breton Cheese Hound did one of those. No problem with socialisation before,  just for fun and a new skill. Highly recommended,  in fact we're going to do the silver level course later in the year.

Search for UK Sniffer Dogs if anyone fancies it.

Something better than a dog....two or three dogs.

Danielle, Florence and Francesca keeping me company on a coffee break in the conservatory. 1.5 springers and 1.5 cockers, age about 10, 5 & 7. They keep each other company, and you see the different personalities and pack dynamics. Mental health benefits are huge. Love them to bits, and get it back X10. Fran and Flo appeared on page 1 of this thread.

He's not too bad with most dogs. He just doesn't like overly enthusiastic encounters with dogs who continually get in his face. Having said that, I've never heard of scent classes (and, bloody hell, he does like to sniff!) so I'll check whether there's anything local...👍

I think its generally  a street dog thing. It's exactly how lola was. They don't worry about dogs until it might be a threat. Apparently they are very good a reading dog behaviour. The issue comes where dogs don't behave like dogs, and they don't know whats going on.

But yeah scent class probably would help or any other job they can learn in the presence of other pups.

Dick head. Decided to undo everything i have been saying about her, break free of my grasp and go and shout angrily at my neighbours dogs faces.

Just lot's of loud barking and tussling. No damage done and they all parted ways looks quite happy.

Have look for a local trainer doing social walks and reactive dog classes. The spotty yobbo has had to do some remedial learning since he didn't work out what an American Bully was showing. There was unpleasantness form our yobbo (a big bill for us from their vet) and he hasn't been off lead since. (We take him to a rented play field to play ball and run around off-lead. Some of the problem may be due to him being attacked by a loose staffie 2 years ago with a bitten through rear leg for him and expensive vets bills that the other owner paid.

Got Chewie a new harness today and then bumped in to a toy and standard poodle. Felt like a trifecta of poodle types photo was in order.

Huh? A dog has the same environmental impact as a Landcruiser?

V6 or V8?

I have a dog. I kinda like the environment. I don't own a Landcruiser. Oh... the Climate Crisis hoax.... See what you did there.

Can we just leave that comment behind us?

Lola is currently curled upnnext to my other half who has come in from a nightshift. She has a remarkable ability to know when silently just curl up. I know this because she normally stomps around the house like an surly teenager then nuzzles your ear to see if you are dead.

Spenny but she loves it. They company was started by a young dundonian. I would recommend to anyone.

I have had a nibble. Its tastes as dusty as it looks. But her craps are fantastic. Huge Zero smell no mess pickups.

No, it seems to format that into "Race neutralisation means more time to pet the dogs! 🐶 #AmstelGold #AGR2024 #cycling #roadrace #HomeOfCycling | Instagram" and remove the hyperlink, doing with out the https on the front at least pastes the link, and the embed code just does that ------^

Either way, click through for adorable doggos getting attention during the neutralization of the Amstel race.

IMG_1769Sleeping Milo.   Sleeping soundly because he has an untroubled mind.  I am sure to him, even running off with an odd sock is very helpful.

How's she settling in?

Do you have any idea how fast she is?

Not recorded, but having seen her chase a rabbit, she's frighteningly fast when she's in hunting mode. It's why we're very selective about where we let her off.

Good so far. No whining in the night we could hear. Lola slept next to her which probably helped. Fair to say senior dog not 100% convinced about her new housemate. New pup was very keen to play at 6am this morning...

IMG_2937looking at that photo, she doesn't look too impressed at being 'bed-jacked'

New pup just runs out of battery and is asleep in 2 minutes.

Eventually we got to watch some cricket today. Oscar loves to watch a match, he’s been going since he was about 8 weeks old.

The hound attempted a run-on landing at whilst still pulling power. It didn't as planned.

She's fine, walked off the booboo and humiliation.
