It'd be a proper pain in the arse for some of you but it'd maybe cut down on the amount of drivel that the usual suspects post.

Just an idea.

No need for the "like" button really is there.

I don't like that Idea SBZ.

However, something I've seen on other forums, number of views of a thread.
Would be nice, but its not essential.

Also, being able to see who has attached which tag to a thread, might sort that issue out too...

😉

Tbh I like the minimalist forum here. Most forums are an explosion of junk all over the screen, and I don't mean the posts 🙂

What would be nice is a "new" button next to thread titles, which takes you straight to the posts you haven't read....

No need to add stuff, but getting rid of the "insert smilies" button would improve the forum.

Wouldn’t that only be useful to those people that think 'popular' is somehow related to 'good' and vice versa?

For those of us capable of independent thought, I imagine the forum is fine as it is.

What about being able to black list people so you never see their posts?

The threads all appear normal but if there is someone who constantly riles you then their postings don't appear. This might cut down on some of the arguments*

*except for the usual suspects who can have an argument on their own

That actually does sound like a good idea, but from chatroom use back in the day, that can get very frustrating when the hot conversation involves the person you've 'ignored' but you have no idea what they said/are saying.

And surely, based on even the non-working clock being right twice a day, even the most tiresome of posters are capable of posting a gem now and then?

You mean I'm supposed to read ALL of the posts?

I haven't got time to eat as it is.

Doesn't work, threads lose their train of thought and people get the wrong idea from what's left. All goes to pot.

have you been at the porn again ?

works well - add posters name and you can disable it on a thread to read if you wish

You're assuming that the people I would use it on ever have anything relevant or useful to add.

Some STW users only seem to talk about themseleves, therefore removing them would have no effect on a thread's coherence.

It's not obligatory to use it.

I've just downloaded the killfile - did it come prepopulated? 😈

Reasonable point. Still gets a tad confusing, but if you've the brain to install the filter you probably have the brainpower to pause and think through a reply, unlike many 🙂

I can't work out how to install it.

🙁

Although I did give up and decide to do some work instead when I realised I'd need to restart FF.

I've been thinking about updating the killfile, so let me know if you want to see anything new and I'll try and put it in.

It'd be good to disable cats.

Well, pics of cats anyway.

coffeeking - yes thanks, but will have to try next session as that requires FF restart and my other windows are full of work stuff.

Go to your pick on flickr, click the share button, select BB code and then copy and paste that whole lot into your post directly.

nicko74 you just need the address part, like this:

TSY & GrahamS, not really - it would be quite a lot of work, and start the mother of all arguments, which is the opposite of the killfile purpose!

bikebouy, if you subscribe to the magazine or become a premier user you can disable the ads, which is fair enough I reckon.

thebunk - how would it? You wouldn't be able to get at someone who'd 'killed' you... what did GrahamS say anyway?

@The Bunk

The only problem with the killfile, as it currently exists, is when people quote the killee. Not sure how you would get round this.
