On the back of the unexplained (spooky) thread-

I took this photo a while ago and it's got a strange glitch. All I can add is I had my daughter in a child carrier but she was on my back while I took the photo.

??

It's odd as that could be her silhouette, but she is strapped to my back in a carrier. So if it's some weird refraction how is she floating?

Or is it just aliens?

It's definitely aliens. Just your bog standard common green aliens though, nothing to get too excited about.

Similar to this image I took yesterday. Though this was at an identity parade. I think the middle guy is the culprit.

(was actually trying to find a GIF of children levitating various geometric shapes but couldn't remember source).

Good try except Brocken seem to have the sun behind the photographer. In this case the atifact seems to be between the observer and the sun/ Not lens flare in the normal sense as that would have the usual iris defines shape so I'm sticking with local items like trees and ridges affecting the suns rays.

Some amusing and good suggestions, I knew I wouldn't be let down.

In struggling to not see it as a silhouette of my daughter in her snow suit but I know that's probably just my mind forcing that idea..

Unless your daughter has a massive square head, it's just lensflare, coincidentally shaped like a jelly baby from the neck down. Cool tho.

I'm fairly sure the hood head ears on it. But realistically it's probably lens flare.

It's no surprise really, you've pointed your optical device at the brightest object in existence, what did you think would happen?
Obviously, as above, this has summoned the spirit of St. Paedobear, who appears near Christmas to nonce on kids in rucksacks when their parents aren't looking.
Probably best to get a front carrying child storage solution, just to be safe.

Robbie
It's the ghost of Robbie the Robot.

Definitely not a Brocken Spectre. Sun is 180 degrees in the wrong direction, it's not misty, and it doesn't look like the shadow of a person.

I am, sort of, with Poopscoop. I suspect some evil sod ate a jelly baby from the feet upwards and the poor tortured soul is now cursed to appear every year on the eve of its death by dismemberment appearing to all who look in that direction.
