Looking at sunglasses and coincidently this company offered me a 30% discount on Instagram if I used their glasses in some photos.

Smells like a scam, but is it?

https://theoutdoorzy.com/

I am not great at the background checking on websites but many on here seem proper Poirots

I'm not going to look at the website, but it's probably a scam. Do you really want to find out?

The website was registered in August 2020, and they paid for 2 years - scammers would probably not do that as they'll close down once they've made a bit. Nothing jumps out to say the company isn't legit.

But searching for information brought up this. What evidence do you have that the person who contacted you actually represents the company? As an example, which may not be the one you've seen, there's an Instagram account called theoutdoorzyofficial - which links to theoutdoorzy.com - but anyone can make a link. I'd be more confident if theoutdoorzy.com had a link to the Instagram account. Maybe contact them through the website and ask if the offer you've had is one they recognise?

It looks legit to me. Here is a link to a youtube review of the glasses where you also get a 30% discount. The guy reviewing seems to like them.

Looks like cheap’ish copies of Oakley/100% etc. If lenses are decent quality maybe worth a punt. AliExpress you’ll get similar for £10

You're right, it does. I clicked it earlier and it did nothing. Looks legit then.

It's a scam, they've flattered your ego by making you feel special, so you're now considering buying a product you'd never even heard of before. As above, if you google, easy to find a 30% discount code available to everyone 😃 Good marketing ploy though obviously... make an average Joe feel like he's an Instagram brand ambassador like his "semi-famous" athlete heroes 🤣

It’s a scam. The glasses will be cheap rubbish and you will effectively be being full price for them even if they offer them for shipping alone.
Unfortunately it’s pretty much par for the course now and is the new way to market/ sell on insta.

This. And they will be dropshipped from China.

Not saying you're wrong, but it would be nice to see some evidence to back it up...

probably this (that'll be how they're affording free worldwide shipping). The website is laid out exactly how scam websites are, massive discounts off everything. (Not saying you won't receive anything, just that they're using the same psychological tricks that scammers use to entice you into buying). That and the fact all their marketing seems to be recommendations from people that've been paid to give recommendations... It just doesn't suggest "quality product" to me. 😉

very expensive for what are obviously extremely cheaply made sunglasses. I guess they’re banking on most people not taking them up on the lifetime* guarantee, in which case they’re laughing! Still, nice marketing, if it makes you feel part of a special club, go for it 👍
