Drizzle forecast for tomorrow AM. I am planning to use wet mortar, is drizzle going to rule this out?
Can I lay a patio in light rain
AIUI, sharp sand is betterer but IANAGW (I am not a ground worker) 🙃
Would have to be pretty wet to get enough water running between the cracks to wash away the mortar. I normally lay patios on a dry mix of 10:1 sand:cement, so drizzle (or rain) actually helps a bit.
I'm 3/4 through laying mine and have had to postpone the last 2 weekends because of rain. Same forecast for tomorrow. Using a 6:1 mix with Cementone plasticiser + EasyPrime for bonding (Indian Sandstone).
Personally I would only do an area in light rain and that's if I knew it was going to be dry for the next 24-48hrs. Any more rain and I'd either call it off or tarp it firm.
I'm most certainly not a landscaper, but I'm pretty handy with a bit of DIY and prefer to be patient and get most jobs right as opposed to rush through and pay for it later.
I'm sure pro's will happily crack on in some degree of rain.
Forecast as been up/downgraded to thunder for Saturday now. Arse.

Garden's been dragging on for months now. Nowhere to sit out in nice weather is becoming a bummer.
Do you have a gazebo? Very handy for outdoor DIY in the rain, eg I stick one up to keep power tools dry etc.
Got it out for the chippies doing the Workshop roof, they were so impressed they went out and bought one!

It's your call, but I'd hang fire another week or two until it's properly dry. Those day's will fly by and you do want to look back on a job done well, don't you?

That was going to be my question, cheapy one from B&Q, it's only got to last a weekend.
That or a big old tarp...

That's the question I'm asking - is rain going to result in a poor job?
Using dry mortar would be a PITA in any sort of damp, and if you spill any cement dust onto wet slabs it'll leave a mark. I'd wait for dry weather, personally, but I'm no expert.
Using wet mortar to begin with.
I guess for laying the base / slabs a bit of light drizzle won't make any difference.
Forget it unless its dry and stays dry , you will make a right mess and end up with wet or damp concrete everywhere.
Unless you’ve a large chest freezer then do it ASAP or the body will start to smell

Have to say there's been a consistently excellent standard of levity on the forum today
