[Closed] Can I convert iTunes library to .mp3?

I've just got a new car with an SD slot, so I now want to copy lots of songs from my iTunes library to an SD card. I've just realised that this is easier said than done and have spent quite a while googling possible solutions.

Most of the music was uploaded from CDs, but there are also quite a few albums that I've bought directly from iTunes and it looks like this is going to be a problem. I like Apple stuff, but this is annoying, especially as everything I have was bought legally and is for my personal use.

Ideally, what I'd like to do is simply copy everyting to .mp3 format. I have a second computer without iTunes on it and have copied all the music files onto this computer. I realise that there are a number of programs that may do this, but I'm confused by the range, so was wondering if anyone could recommend a good program for converting them and advise on whether this is even possible.

Thank you in advance. (Of course, the stuff I downloaded from Amazon is fine ...)

iTunes will do it for you - select the tracks(s), right click, create mp3 version. Had to do it for my car too.

DVDVideoSoft works for me for converting M4A files to MP3 - and a lot of other things besides!

EDIT - didn't realise iTunes would do it!

I think if you do it using iTunes, it ends up giving you 2 copies of each song that I presume then need to be sorted somehow. I have 3300 songs in my library ... is there any way around this that you know of?

DVDVideoSoft's application will allow you to choose your location for the converted files, so just choose a different folder for the output. It also allows you to do the conversion in batches, so just set it running and wait. 3300 files ain't going to be quick though!

Sorting the files would be easy - just go into Windows Explorer and sort the files by type. Bit of a pain if iTunes doesn't let you choose the output folder though...

PS - I haven't got a Create MP3 option in iTunes, and as far as I know I have the latest version...

Thaks for the advice! BTW,if you go into the Advanced tab in iTunes, there is an option to "Create .mp3 version". I did try this, but it started to gove me duplicates ... I'll have a look at the software recommended.

Only got 'Create AAC version on my 'Advanced' menu! Never mind, just interested.

DVDVideoSoft's offering is free - and you can also use it for converting all sorts of files. Useful for converting videos to phone compatible versions - at least for me.

I'm running iTunes 9.2.1.5 - maybe this is a recent feature?
