Sorry, boring topic.

I'm joining the panic-wagon now feet first and looking to buy before the year is out (and I dwindle my savings any further 😕 )

Wouldn't mind some good advice beforehand; don't mind paying up-front fees for a good one that can be personally recommended.

Ta.

EDIT: Oh, can possible advise me on how this whole house-buying business works would be a bonus!

Nationwide -> FlexAccount -> FlexPlus Mortgage.

The staff know their stuff, the rates are good (5 year tracker especially) and no messing around during the application.

First time buyer last year and completed within 2 weeks. Moving at the moment, applied today, expect approval within 10 days.

I know a really good mortgage advisor, based in Garforth. Used his service a number of times over the years. Email me if you would like his contact details

Jonathan Boyle based in Horsforth. Set us up a mortgage explained everything clearly and I'm self employed so it wasn't that straightforward. An all together excellent chap. He can be found at acorn estates, station road Horsforth.
Good luck with your house

In Harrogate here, used Julie Gilbert (based in thirsk but happy to come to us).

Very recommended - no bullshit, just good advice.

Just a little bump; the guy that 'justridemtb' recommended has been a complete legend. He's been there every step of the way and hasn't missed a beat; the way he reacts to things makes you feel like he's only working for you! I used his own recommended solicitor as well, and between them they just blitzed the process in ridiculously aggressive timescales. I didn't raise a finger in effort throughout, and got a 7 year fixed deal at an alarmingly good rate, with very competitive fixed solictor fees on top.

I subsequently recommended him to the son of a friend, and I got exactly the same feedback as my experience; and they had complicated self employed circumstances - so if you're looking for the same, drop me an email and I'll pass on his details.

Only bumping as recommendations get made on here regularly, but rarely is any feedback given, and this guy is a true professional.

That must have gone through pretty quickly Mr Bear seeing as you were looking at a dodgy gaff only a few weeks ago?

Dodgy gafff was back in November 😀 Still quick though; offer was accepted 6th Dec, completed on Thursday, which allowing for Christmas was pretty impressive.

Hi Rich,
just out of interest, who's the lender for your 7 year fixed deal?
I'm looking for a new deal now, but only seeing terms up to 5 yrs.

(ps the Mondraker's going strong! It was for my lad - his first proper bike & he's loving it!)

Cheers.

Glad to hear it! 😀 Halifax; 4.69% - it might be one of those broker only deals? Worth a call at least I guess.
