Shed?
looking at around 8’ wide and 12’ deep and would ideally be difficult to break into.

Asgard would seem the obvious one.

Large metal sheds & large metal storage sheds - Asgard (asgardsss.co.uk)

Happy with the bike shed we have.

Some companies offer wooden sheds with additional security, for example, no windows, or very shallow windows too small and high to see much or climb through.

You can of course replace the lightweight hinges that come as standard with something more heavy duty, use 1 way security screws and coach bolts to fix, reinforce the door for them to fix to, and get decent locks and padlocks (look for closed shackle) and don't shy away from spending money on this stuff.

Well I could've recommended some things but I can't recommend a shed so coming into this thread was a waste of time, can I recommend finishing sentences in thread titles as a method of avoiding making grumpy people grumpier?

Thanks,

Grumpy.

IMO no shed other than Asguard has any ant thief credibility, and even Asguard are not great apparently.
I've a solid Costco bought Keter shed, the posher grey plastic one, that's now 4 years old and solid. I would buy again.

As the thread title says “Can anyone recommend a shed?”, I’m not entirely sure what you were expecting, tbh.
Trouble is, there are places that have a really wide range of sheds and more elaborate buildings that are more like workshops and others that are basically an office, so I can only suggest finding somewhere local, trotting along and looking at whatever’s available and how it matches budget, etc. there’s a big garden centre a couple of miles from me that has loads, from £2k to £16k+. I’m looking at around 4m x 3m, and I’ve been told about a small company in Melksham that is cheaper, so I’ll check them out, but I’ve got about 10m of fencing to deal with first.

I have had an Asgard shed for several years now and it's been adequately solid.

If buying a steel shed I recommend buying an insulated one to avoid all the condensation issues with a non insulated one. Also means it'll be usable for other stuff such as Turbo trainer setup  etc.

Hmm... someone sneakily edited in an extra word and a question mark.

As evidence I submit the OP beginning with the same word, which no longer makes sense.

I built a 12ft x 8ft shed from these people for my dad. Pretty solid but I wouldn't say it's going to prevent a determined wrong un with a desire for what lays inside.

Hiya,

Something I have expertise in. I have three sheds from the mainstream manufacturers i.e Tiger, Shedscene and Nordic Timber. By far the best in terms of quality and design is the Nordic Timber, plus they assemble for you on site, as part of the deal. https://www.nordictimberbuildings.com/

I have no affiliation to them just experience. Shedscene are good Tiger are OK ish but not the same quality as Nordic or Shedscene. Both Shedscene and Nordic are good but the Nordic is better quality and stronger. They can also do custom. I'm using a Pent for the Nordic and Apex for Shedscen. I had to use Pent for the Nordic because I built a Log shed in front of it. PM me for pictures if you want won't do it online...

The best recommendation I got (from here) was find someone local who builds sheds. This means less of your money goes on shipping the thing halfway across the country.

If you're in central belt Scotland then I can recommend https://www.patersonsgardenbuildings.co.uk/

+1 for nordic timber buildings. their prices have gone up a little, but still not a huge amount more compared to some of the flimsy sheds form the other major suppliers, and the quality if definitely better

having said that, i wouldn't keep my bikes or anything else of real value in there - any shed is the work of less than 5 minutes to break into. for bikes or anything of value you need a more substantial structure or something like an Asgard.

i tend to take the view of it's in the shed i have to assume it might get stolen and ensure it insured appropriately. i pretty much turned my workshop into a fortress (100mm sips panel, 25mm cladding, metal roof, steel security door, letter box window 6 foot off the ground) and they still got in there and manged to take my bikes and all my nice tools

We’ve been using two of these Asgards metal sheds at home

Made in Britain, price is fair for the quality and design, reassuringly solid and can be dismantled in the future if you move

All sheds can be broken into, but this one feels like it would put up a fight and make a lot of noise in the process

Usual 10% discounts floating around somewhere online

To be honest they will find a way in regardless. The best thing to do is have so many obstacles that they give up.

With respect to wooden sheds and security look and ground-anchors and chains, it's worth looking at Pragmasis.

I  tend to mix locks and use Lite locks and motorcycles lock. I don't like metal sheds for esthetic reasons. BTW those thinking that you house is a safer bet, a house here locally had it's roof partially removed to get to the bikes ;-(
