we are having a change around at work and will be losing a few people, we currently work a two day two night rotating shift with built in holidays and 4 or 6 days off inbetween.

there are 5 shifts which will be dropping to 4 with the changes.

the new shift patterns are massively different to the old ones to compensate for the loss of a shift, ive tried to design some alternatives using excel but it becomes ridiculousley complex the further into the year you get.

I have seen various pieces of software but some of it is quite pricey, I was wondering if any one has any experiance of this type of software, is it worth spending money on? or even better are there any free altenrnatives ?

cheers

What are the issues with the rostering? We always do ours on Excell, and they are quite complex, we have over 100 engineers working a load of different patterns over a 26week roster, where both the hours they work and the and the forecasted weekend workload increases, being as it's a seasonal business we are in.
