Toying with taking the kids/some kids to the Forest O' Dean for a pootle around the kid appropriate bits. Its probably 2 hrs from us so wondering if we would be better making a weekend of it and camping nearby
Are there any campsites within easy (preferably immediate/instant) access of the Colliers woodland trail, that we could use to cycle to the Centre (and to cycle around the colliers itself) without having to load up the van?
Kids are 2,4 and 8, so even short sections of road are less than ideal.
Thanks!
When are you going?Â
There's a race a week on Sunday, which has free overnight camping. I'd park up there and camp. It's at Worcester Lodge so at the top, but an easy cycle down to centerÂ
we stay in the caravans at the golf place, you ride upto the lights on the path, cross the road, ride on the far side to the cemetery then from there you can follow a path to the uplift drop off point, its about 800meters and you get a downhill run the cafe as a wake upÂ
Whitemead Park is the obvious place. Google is your mate here. Tis at the end of the Parkend spur of the Colliers. Two pubs, two cafes and bike shop and hire in the village plus what ever joys you find in Whitemead. This is the only campsite on or really close to the trail. One road crossing just outside and the usual crossing at Cannop.Â
Thanks, that souinds ideal.
I did have a googloo around, but my googlefu is clearly weak today, as nothing made itself apparent.
