You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
Hi Folks,
I'm hopefully heading down to north wales/snowdonia area this weeked for a few days hillwalking and maybe a bit of climbing weather permitting. Anyone got any campsite recommendations as we are hoping just to pitch the "car camping" tent and stay in one place. Requirements are:
Walking distance to pub
Reasonably nice facilities, doesn't need to be 5 star but a nice shower block would do.
Phone reception/wifi would be nice
No requirements to prepay/book as if the weather is total garbage we may head elsewhere
Reasonably inexpensive.
Personal recommendations appreciated.
Thanks in advance
I always used to stay in one at Nant Peris. There are 2 and we always picked the cheaper one. It is the first one you get to coming down the Pass. I think the posh one next door has showers, but the one we used didn't. It was opposite the pub though.

Not sure that either of the ones opposite the Vaynol in Nant Peris meet this requirement! Admittedly, I haven't been there for a good while!
Normally stay down near Beddgelert - Cae Du is one of them I think. Or at Lyn Gwynant if you want to be closer to Snowdon.
We stayed at the Llanberis touring park in September and it's a well manicured site.
Their website says they do tents but it was mainly caravans and MHs.
On the edge of Llanberis so close to the local amenities, but I think you would need to book.
Showers and toilet block were excellent.
We stayed here, near Dolgellau:
Walk over the hill into Dolgellau for pubs, or down the beautiful Mawdach trail along the estuary to the George III pub by the old toll bridge. Walking from the door, or head over to Cadair Idris
Rhyd du the cwylen arms
Quatily boozer good showers on the quiet side of snowdon

Well, er, probably 🙂 But it's a great spot and you won't get anything nearer the crags.
Stayed here about a month ago:

Between Beddgelert and Caernafon but closer to latter.
Clean with flat decent pitches, has pub on-site that sells their own microbrewery beers, decent reasonably-priced food (beef madras and chicken tikka masala with half rice/half chips is ace!) WiFi in pub. Walk out of site up onto Moel Eilio group which is right next to Snowdon itself. Not the cheapest but we paid when we arrived - no deposit. Oh, and the Welsh Highland Railway has a stop next to the station if that floats your boat. Quite a way from anything else though...
Small site in Capel Curig with pub next door and cafe a stone's throw away...handy for Glyders/Tryfan.

+ 1 for the Cwellyn Arms campsite.
Recently stayed in their cottage next to the campsite and spoke to a few folk camping. All were happy with the showers and they looked great when we had a look. The pub is fine and it's on the quieter side of Snowdon. Beddgelert is a short drive.
Heroes, I shall investigate the options suggested.
Thanks a million
WRC this weekend so you may want to check the stage locations. Not sure if it would affect your plans much but I suspect increased traffic around areas like Ffestiniog and Betws-y-coed.
If the weather is shit head out to Anglesey or Lleyn where it's usually loads better. Plenty of walking, beaches and general chill at my favourite campsite here - http://www.aberafon.co.uk/
No pub though.
