Stayed here before...great site - well it was about 6 years ago anyway.
Nice 15 min stroll through field along obvious path brings you out near the slipway in RBH...if I was going that way again I would def go there again.
I love Northumberland & North Yorks, but It's odd how there aren't many suggestions for NY Coastal sites but there'd be loads for Northumberland! (yet)
Try Bay Ness Farm? It was quite good, but somewhat exposed to the wind, years ago. We walked to Whitby and had chips (more than once).
Just to add my 2p, we stayed at Hooks House Farm at RHB last year and loved it. Farmer and his family were very helpful and welcoming, pretty peaceful and lovely views over the bay.
Hooks House Farm if you want it calm and quiet , we've found that Middlewood Farm can get a bit noisy at weekends when older teens from surrounding areas come for a weekend piss up.
the veiw from our tent at Hooks House 4 weeks ago.

Middlewood Farm has got quite big now with several fields in use. Still a good site with a lovely short walk across the fields to RHB. Took my grandson last year and we had a great time
Another vote for Middlewood Farm, we stayed there for a week maybe about 8 years ago. Really liked the site, bit of a queue for the showers in the morning though so if it's expanded and they haven't added more toilets then get up early 🙂
Found the staff in the local pub, The Fylingdales Inn, extremely grumpy and customer service was awful.
We used to big fans of Middlewood Farm but it has got too popular now. The last couple of times we have been, up to last year, it's had too many people for the amount of facilities available, which haven't increased either and most of the time it was grubby. Nowhere near like how it used to be.
Bank holidays will be a nightmare with the top field open. If you want to eat at the Flyingdales Inn you will need to book in advance to your stay or go elsewhere.
The campers we spoke to last time we were there felt the same and Hook House Farm was recommended but I've not had the chance yet.
We stayed at Humble Bee (between Scarborough and Filey but a little bit inland) a few years ago - lovely and small (although they are developing it a bit now) with farm animals onsite to pet (for the young ones obviously). It is a fantastically quiet location.
Middledwood is good location for Robin Hoods Bay and if your taking the bike there is the Cinder Path that runs to Scarborough and Whitby.
We stop at Broadings Farm just on northern edge of Whitby. 15 min walk into town. Very nice modern facilities, good space on the fields for pitches.
We've ended up in http://beaconfarmicecream.co.uk/campsite/
It a great place overlooking Whitby abbey.

Thought I'd take a pic of the bike light chandelier, not getting much use in the bike at this time of the year.
+1 for Middlewood.
A bit of a shame they've gone down the cabin route and cut down the touring space, but location is great for a walk down into RHB.
Fylingdales Inn has changed hands and only does food 1/2 the week (although we were last there around Easter so it might be a seasonal thing). No hardship to walk down into RHB though - the Victoria does really decent pub food.
Caveat. We only really go there out of main season, so no idea how rammed it gets over the summer.
Tent, camper, electric?
Hooks House Farm is great but a bit of a hill. They have lots of leveling blocks if you are in a camper.
Tents better at the bottom of the field but don't think there is hook up down there.
Great walks/bike rides north or south along old railway cuttings.
We're in the smallest tent here, no hook up. It's the first camping trip with my son, easing him in gently for wild camping.
