Does anybody know of any campsites that take group bookings - preferably in the Lake District area.
Yorkshire Dales & North York Moors would also be an option.
early-mid September time
Looking to try to organise a weekend away with my running club. Running during the day .. probably a few beers and a little
Bit of noise (chatter) on an evening.
I expect I’ve got no chance but thought it worth asking!
We’d make individual bookings but somewhere where we could
Be plonked in our own field would be ideal 🙂
How many is the 'group'?
I reckon at that time of year, in advance and for a large enough group (£££) some smaller sites might book you in and plan around it?
pitchup.com has a few group booking filters - anywhere happy with DofE groups or rallies would be worth a try.
Kettlewell campsite has a group field well away from anything. Next to great whernside start field if you know it.
This place is very relaxed and has a pub. Great location for walking, running and biking in a quieter corner of LDNP

group
You probably need to spell out what this means.
A DofE group is very different from 20 lads on a weekend of stag do riding...
Rough guess I’d say anything from 10-20 people, 5/6 tents, male and female runners. A few campsite drinks on the night (or pub if nearby) - not a loud music, party all night kind of group.
Don't open with "group".
Open with "running club training weekend".
I've done both (well, cycling club touring weekend). Guess which one i couldn't get in anywhere with.
Also, the following year, the new club secretary booked, she had even less issues than i did.

^ that
Definitely Bowkerstead farm, just south of Grizedale forest. Was there at the weekend with 11 others. You’re allowed fires as well.
We booked as a big group.
The families were in a different field with short grass, the big groups (and there were a few) were in a different less groomed field. It’s basic but only £8.50 per night.
They also have food on site to buy of an evening.
Pub is a few mins walk down the road.
Don't be like the group of ****ty wealth fund managers who rocked up to the campsite we were in near Bath, hogged the whole middle of the site, parked their cars in random spots, got drunk, played shit covers on guitar and annoyed the rest of the campsite until 1am.
In the end I sent over and used my teacher voice on them. By the looks on their faces no-one had ever told them off in their lives before. Bunch of entitled wazzocks.
Coniston Hall campsite
Not Malham anyway. 3 of us turned up to go climbing and the owner told us he didn't take groups. He reluctantly let us stay after we explained we were there to climb not drink.
Kettlewell, as above. The Reyt Good Ride feature in a recent singletrack camped there (with Alpkit awning thing), next to all the DofE students. Insanely good shower facilities.
Alantom - could have done with you in the FoD last summer!
I'll call campsites and ask if they allow groups. If they do, I wouldn't go there.
