You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
Pretty much as title suggests, really. Just came across it online. Prices seem reasonable - £50-150 a day for week-long rental starting in a few days' time. Insurance doesn't seem to be a total ripoff, which is the catch with "peer to peer" car rental. Some pro built and some home built... 🤔

I'd be interested if anyone has used it as a van owner to rent their van out. We have a camper that doesn't get as much use as it used to, but we're still slightly loathed to get rid of it. If there was a way of it earning it's keep, that could be pretty handy.
I've rented from a similar setup in france, worked really well, the owners had bought a brand new transit-based motorhome and were paying for it purely on the scheme, using it occasionally for themselves as a freebie
Not yet but been tempted to try this year - we've been thinking about tent camping alternatives and there are quite a few caravans and trailer tents on there as well as the usual campervans.
I've rented through what is now goboony, can't remember what it was called before. This was last year.
The whole process was fine, plenty communication throughout, lots of updates along the way as you have to provide various documents and pay up at various stages.
The actual van came from a camper conversion company. On the day of collection, we didn't actually meet the people, just collected the van from their unit, got sent several short YouTube videos explaining how to do the bed and the pop top etc. Had a contact number if required. Return drop off was equally painless.
Whole thing was very straightforward.

I've friends who rented a larger coach built van.
They gave up after one season due to the incessant damage to bodywork and internal damage. Everything from hitting overhead trees to damage to cupboards and broken crockery etc. People taking dogs despite it being banned, huge amounts of mud, crazy miles etc etc. Even the damage deposit and insurance didn't really cover things and they got out.
This has reminded me of car lease and rental scheme I came across in Italy. It's EU wide, so not here. Basically you lease the car on a subscription, but you can also rent it out to others. It's all done through the car company.
Found them https://www.lynkco.com/en
From Sweden. You can subscribe and get a car then rent it out when you're not using it. The company Lynk & Co organises it all.

not surprised having seen how bad most people are at driving a big car. I did consider doing this a side line / way to fund a camper but the damage / cost seems too much.
I’d probably rent mine out if it wasn’t a sure fire way to get the water tank filled with diesel, the interior splattered with bacon fat, or the roof mechanism wrecked as they try to lower it with stuff on the bed… etc.
Plenty of tales of those hiring our their beloved air-cooled VWs to have them trashed, seized engines etc. Insurance premiums for owners are quite hefty too.
