Calling to those in the know.....
I'm looking at taking the Mrs to Mull this weekend for a bit of canpervanning. My idea is Tobermory on Saturday morning, then mosey on over to Calgary beach for overnight. The Mrs enjoys wildlife photography and I may just put the wet suits in and go for a quick swim in the sea.
Anyone know of other places to camp/wildlife spot/ hidden gems of Mull?
M

Not exactly hidden, but the campsite Fionnphort is a nice spot.

+1 Fionnphort.

Or maybe that is because we had some of our honeymoon there...

You can park up at the harbour car park and use the showers and toilets there.

At the Ulva ferry is also good. Ulva is worth a visit - good walks and a nice wee café/pub.

Ardmore point - remote swimming - Sea Eagles if you're lucky - and Glengorm castle and on to Dervaig makes a nice bike trip.

As mentioned Fionnphort is a lovely spot with Iona a short swim away!!

Ardmeanach point for a wild long walk and some geological marvels including a fossil tree and the black rose basalt formation (I missed that due to high tide, but pictures look good) its a great spot for sea eagles too, and probably otters.

the campsite near the front is really nice. i`m guessing its Fionnphort.

we also spent some of our honeymoon in a van there.

I`ve a pic that makes it look like some tropical island. great memories.

Plenty of places to go and see. It is quiet at the minute and given you have your own transport and accommodation, follow your nose and explore! All of the places above are nice, but some of the best beaches/scenery/photography is down on the Ross of Mull..
Go, chill out and enjoy
