Am picking up a campervan next week and looking at insurance for it.
I did a search on GomCompare's van insurance thing and got some prices back around £250
However, GoCompare have another motorhome insurance search that you can find on google (not linked on main site), which gave a cheaper price ~£200.
However, it asked a few questions about "how long have you been driving a motorhome" and mentioned motorhome no claims. I remember that motorcycle and car no claims aren't transferable (though accidents are). Is that the same?
Any other tips about insuring a campervan? And it is a campervan (on V5), not just a van with a bed in the back.
We use caravanguard, Did some initial searches etc and chose them and they’ve not put the policy up too much, they’re fine to deal with but we’ve never had to do a claim, also use their recovery option. 260 a year
Biggest tips would be make sure you know howto winterize your van (water, window seals)
Read the small print
Most of the cheap camper policy's stipulate must be insured on another vehicle.
Soon as it becomes your only car it goes up exponentially.
Previously used Brentacre, now through Adrian Flux. Both decent service.
Also if you want it as a back up commuter you will have to search around a bit. I asked last year and was told no chance by Adrian flux, this year owing to covid I decided it was a must and contacted Adrian Flux (telling them not to renew as I was getting commuting elsewhere) and they got back to me and put commuting on for less than the original quote. Van is motorhome on V5 BTW.
What does the V5 say? Motorcaravan / campervan insurance is often cheaper that van insurance - these days it's almost impossible to get the V5 changed due to too many dodgy DIY van jobs.
Currently with Adrian Flux, but their rescue service is rubbish - left us stranded, so will be changing it this year.

Not IME, I've had a T5 camper insured by Adrian Flux for commuting and business use, as only vehicle, for coming on 10 years.
Indeed anything is possibly if you pay
My 7m van is 150 quid a year on limited milage not commuting not my only car.
Soon as it's my only car it jumps thankfully they accept my classic as another car
Without that next best quote was 400 quid.
Maybe less of increase for a T5 as it's no bigger than a Passat so shouldn't be as much risk of crashing as larger vans ..

To be honest I think I got a lazy sod last year because when I dug my heels in this year (car problems at start of covid plus wanted to give the van a run now and again) they managed to accommodate me.
Its a total lottery in my opinion!
Old T4 was on a limited mileage camper policy with Adrian Flux for about 200 (agreed value of 11k on the van).
New T6 (currently still a van) is 250 with Admiral and declared 'Camper' modifications (no chance of getting it changed on the v5 these days but that is not important in Admirals eyes or mine tbh).
