I was fortunate enough to get some Glasto tickets and a campervan spot. Can anybody recommend a good/cheapish campervan/motorhome hire around the Midlands area. 2 adults and 2 youngsters(3+5) so won't be going to wild.

I can't imagine you'll get a cheap camper anywhere for Glastonbury week, not a decent one at any rate.

I was looking at prices for a camper van to do a couple of weeks around Scotland next year and the prices went up from about £5-600 a week normally up to something like £1300 a week for Glastonbury week 😯

A couple I know paid over £1000 for Glastonbury weekend 2015, it was pretty small IIRC. Part of the problem on price is Glastonbury runs Wed-Mon so it's over 2 hire weeks.

Do what I did a few years ago - buy a camper, use it for the festival, then sell it.

I bought a camper advertised on gumtree (decent condition, think it was a Peugeot of some sort) had 7 months MOT and cost me about £2.5k. Used it for a summer of festivals travelling around with my band, including Glasto. Then sold it for a couple of hundred quid less in October.

Only sold it as I had no off street parking to keep it over winter. Have used tents at festivals since, and still miss having the camper every bloody year!

Do you know anyone, or anyone who knows someone with a camper you might be able to borrow, for a suitable consideration, of course?

Well I've had a quote today for £650 for a 4 berth motorhome, which I think is a very good price.
Matty fez I would usually use a tent but we fancied a change this year

Buy a cheap camper, caravan or trailer tent from eBay or Gumtree, use it for the festival then sell it on again. Ideal time to buy is over the next few months when demand and prices are low. Sell after the festival when people want them for the summer.

You can get a decent trailer tent for a few hundred from Gumtree. I assume that you will be driving anyway so no hassle to tow it and it is likely to be within the weight limit that you can tow on a normal licence if you passed after 1997.

Glastonbury is so much more comfortable and not necessarily more expensive in the camper fields. In my opinion the best thing is not having to carry a weeks worth of booze, tents and other crap for a few miles from the car park to the campsite, then retrace your steps on the Monday. Been many times and last year was the first time in a tent in the normal campsites. It was a great but very different experience to previous years but will not be doing it again.

You can also usually get away with putting a few tents around your camper pitch for others to stay in and as they are a bit further out it is sometimes worth sticking a small tent up nearer the stages to stash stuff during the day.
