My globe trotting daughter is currently in Columbia with her partner while they Airbnb their apartment in Copenhagen, they are travelling back in a month or so and want to swiftly offload their apartment, buy a camper van (in the UK) and head off around Europe. Apparently the apartment is straight forward and they have people queuing up for it.

So that they don't have to hang about too much she's asked me to keep an eye out for something suitable ...... I have no clue!!

So the questions are, where to look? and what to look out for? their budget seems to be (based on examples she sent me), about six grand (stirling). The examples included VW T4, Citroen Dispatch, Mazda Bongo, Citroen Berlingo .... although as her partner is about 6'6" I really can't see how the smaller stuff is going to be practical!

Anyhow, any pointers, tips or advice gratefully accepted.

*Might* be selling our T4 Komet this year, close to that budget, PM me if you like. (I'm 6'5" and you're right, it's hard to find vans to fit into: small ones or anything with a transverse bed are no good. Ours suits me fine.)

Look at bigger vans! At 6'6" he'd just about get in a T4/5 but not a Bongo or Berlingo.

as you're about to find out £6k don't buy a lot, I'd look for older (unfashionable) factory conversions rather than self builds, as whilst there are a lot of good ones, there are hundreds of glitter wrapped VW shaped turds on the market, some are grotty, others are downright unsafe!

maybe look for a Boxer/Ducato/Relay van, as they are generally pretty reliable and widely used as Camper and Motorhome base vehicles.

Or just a plain old ex-builders van and use camping stoves, portable power packs, camping beds etc. Might get more choice and better, more reliable vehicle for your money.

See/; http://smallmotorhome.co.uk/

Nu Venture(aka Nu Surf)  - lingo based real motorhome (imho amazing)

romahome - citroen- wider range

On autotrader under motorhomes you can search by length/cost etc

https://www.autotrader.co.uk/motorhome-search?sort=price-asc&radius=1500&make=AUTO-SLEEPERS&model=DUETTO&price-from=500&postcode=ox128ee     but duettos look a bit pricy

also - https://www.caravanclub.co.uk/caravan-club-classifieds/motorhome/?make=All&region=All&berth=All&newused=All&year=All&dealer=All&price=160

Suggest checking what facilities they consider essential in the van and taking it from there.
