My go-to hill camera is a Canon g9. I have had it since it was the latest in the range and I still use it regularly. However it has a mark on the lens that is showing up in pics when it is being made to work hard. Does anybody know where I can get a replacement glass? Have had a look but not having much luck.

Cheapest route would be to just buy another one (used).

Out of interest, how do you wok a lens "hard"?

Do you mean the mark is visible when you're using smaller apertures?
Normally a mark on the lens has to be pretty big in order to be visible in images. Are you sure its not some dirt or dust on the sensor?
*EDIT* I've just looked and the G9 is a fixed zoom lens, so I'm a little confused as to how you would be able to replace the lens, unless you have some sort of clip on lens to change the focal length.

Big Yin,yes, when using pretty much anything other than the pre-programmed settings. I was hoping it would be a simple bit of glass, I guess that is why I could only find entire lens housings.

TBH I think you'll struggle to find anything like what you're after. You could possibly find one on e-bay spares or repair and attempt to cannibalise it, but it'll be a bit of a fiddle.
Can you actually see anything in the lens i.e. mould / dirt or scratches?
It could be be dirt on the sensor itself.

Not tried this myself but I've heard that (at the front end) you can take away the effect of a lens blemish by covering it with black felt tip.

You'll get slightly less light in the front, but what comes in will be through the good bits of lens, so any effect should go away.
