friend is taking a Short trip (1 week) to the states, plans on taking his £2000+ camera.

Can anyone recommend an insurer who will cover it?

I don't bother insuring my gear. If you read all the small print you'll find it's only insured if it's on your person. Left in a vehicle. Nope. Left in a hotel room. Nope.

So unless you're mugged for it.

YMMV

i use Williamson & Carson specialist insures to the photography/film/TV industry.

there are others out there like towergate and camerasure.

there is just a higher excess if left in an unattended vehicle overnight. though quite why you would do that i’m not sure.

the policy costs 3x my home contents insurance though it does cover data recovery/employers and public liability insurance.

My home policy covers camera stuff taken out of the house and stolen or lost. Turned out to be much cheaper than specialist insurance.
