as good as my Sony phone is, i'd like a decent camera for the outdoors for next summer.

i want something that takes decent action shots, has a rapid photo mode (click-click-click-click-click-click-click-click-click), doesn't need a multitude of lenses (a fixed lens is better) and isn't too bulky.

budget is around 400-500€ max and i'm looking on ebay/second hand...

what can you recommend?

cheers in advance....

Canon Ixus 960 from Ebay?

(Titanium body for extra 'bling' factor.)

Olympus TG1.

Tough as old boots, really easy to use, even with gloves on, and takes great pics in most conditions. OK, it's not a patch on a full SLR, but for usability, and durability, both of which are rather important on a bike, it's great.

I carry two, an Ixus round my neck for riding along snaps, but the quality is pretty poor and a DSLR in my Camelbak, which I whip out to catch passing riders. For speed of auto focus / shutter release response, not much can touch a DSLR. Although some of the new high end compacts such as Nikon J1 etc might be getting close.

We bought a new, old stock Canon SX280 from Canon outlet on eBay - it was a scratched box, but brand new. Cost £98.
It takes cracking pics on the go, a great keep-in-a-pocket-in-case thing. The only bit I don't like is the battery does not last as well as our old Ricoh CX2. The Ricoh took ace pics as well.
I also have an old DSLR that I take when I can be faffed (which is quite often).
What ever camera I have outdoors, it has to be cheap enough that I pull it out in the rain, and wont be *too* upset should I drop it/gets wet/mud on it...

My thinking as well, at least the last part! I went for the other end of the same argument, that it has to be tough enough to cope

should I drop it/gets wet/mud on it...

😀
