proper blubbing type š
she was watching DIY SOS on REALLY tv channel...
Apparently it was a sad one...
I have been known to have a blub but DIY SOS noooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
What makes you cry/pulls on the heart strings on tv ?
Porn
Party Political Broadcasts
Going through a small village and seeing a war memorial with far too many names on for the size of village.
Sad-sad or sad-happy?
Sad-sad on DIY SOS surely would be they've fudged it up and the owner hates it.
I cry if I ever catch a fleeting glimpse of that bloody Gogglebox programme. More than a glimpse and I want to murder people. Any people.
Self sacrifice. Ideally by an animal or child.
Even the end of Frozen gives me a lump in my throat.
Don't know about tv, but my missus briefly "lost" the dog at Coed y Brenin at the weekend whilst I was whisking the nipper round the Blue trail. Got back to the trail centre to be met by dog trying to get into the bins, with no sign of the missus. Eventually tracked her down to the river where she had convinced herself that the beast had either drowned or been run over and was hysterical in a most heart-wrenching fashion.
Didn't know whether to slap her or the dog.. š
Toy Story 3 when Andy goes to college.
To be fair, some of the backstories on DIY SOS are pretty heartbreaking.
Sorry, where do I surrender my man-badge?
The bit in Wall-E where the robots are dancing, and the bit later when Wall-E gets sorted out by Eve. No, I don't know why - I think there must be something wrong upstairs šÆ
Toy Story 3 when Andy goes to college.
Not the furnace bit??
Tbf, if it was the episode MrsMC was watching, it was a tremendous advert for the general goodness in people.
I was reading bike Macs and trying to ignore the telly. Honest. š³
That bit in Field of Dreams when the doc walks off the baseball pitch and you realise he can't ever go back... I'm welling up just thinking about it...
Not the furnace bit??
Dont! Im welling-up right now š
episode with twin boys one had a learning difficulty it was emotional watching the parents...
Not the furnace bit??
When they held hands to face their imminent demise š
I cried in The Green Mile when big black bloke said he was scared of the dark before they killed him.
Oh and 'The Happy Prince' by Oscar Wilder when I heard it as a kid:
http://www.eastoftheweb.com/short-stories/UBooks/HapPri.shtml
Let me also confess to finding my living room a little dusty whilst watching DIY SOS. It's definitely morphed into a different beast from when it first started and they do pull hard on the heartstrings from time to time.
Self sacrifice. Ideally by an animal or child.Even the end of Frozen gives me a lump in my throat.
What no spoiler alert, you b*stard! š
Yes, I find the Children In Need / Comic / Sport Relief versions of DIY SOS can create a lot of dust.
Hinterland had me last night. š
Gets a bit dusty at the very end of Stand By Me
Wall-E....every time.....like a girl.
The bit at the end of Schindlers List when the real-life survivors visit Schindlers grave caused me to 'get something in my eye'
Blimey! I've never even contemplated watching DIY SOS. I was totally unaware that, rather than being a shonky house makeover programme, its actually a souring example of the human spirit , and emotional roller-coaster. Every days a school day, eh?
My mates wife was a producer on it for years too. I barely even feigned any enthusiasm
I have to confess that when they did the first series of the Secret Millionaire (before it became all about the 'Big Reveal' at the end), I often got a slight sniffle at the totally selfless dedication of some people to helping make other peoples lives better
Watershipdown, even the music has me blubbering.
That and plucking nose hairs.
Warrior, when Tom Hardy has ripped the tendons/ligaments in his shoulder and he's trying to fight on to win the money for his best friends widow and kid. And his brother's reluctance to fight him... When he carries him out at the end i'm usually a blubbering wreck. Must have watched it about 5 times as well!
First 5 minutes of Up.
I thought the start of Frozen is sadder than the end, by the end i'm just shouting at THAT BLOODY SNOWMAN!!!!!!!!!!!!
The end of Pan's Labyrinth. š
While watching One Born Every Minute, I alternate between ranting at yet another Brizzle teenage pregnancy caricature, utterly useless ****wittted dad2bes, control freak mum2bes, sweary vicars' wives, interfering family members in the delivery suites, parents2be utterly in equipped for life in general, let alone a screaming baby and then crying when the baby pops out.
Watershipdown, even the music has me blubbering.
My mother used to sing Bright Eyes to me when I was a small child. Made me cry every time.
I think she did it deliberately....
Can't believe no one's mentioned the final episode of Blackadder Goes Forth
Can't believe no one's mentioned the final episode of Blackadder Goes Forth
Wibble
Saving private Ryan, at the end, in the grave yard, "was I worth it?"
Shawshank redemption, on the beach, and now that I've seen it enough times to know what's coming, pretty much from the moment Morgan Freeman suits down for his parole hearing.
When they held hands to face their imminent demise
How the **** is that suitable for children? š„

There's one in Lee Bay North Devon and most of the casualties have the same surname. Must have decimated the village.
That bastard producer of Educating Yorkshire, when that lad (Musharaf) overcame his stammer for the first time.
BoardinBob - MemberGets a bit dusty at the very end of Stand By Me
it's only a song!
lots of things get me from time to time which is odd as lots of people say that i am a cold hearted bastard most of the time.
Mates on one of the DIY SOS programs coming up, says it's a really tear jerker.
End of How to Train Your Dragon caught me out the first time I saw it too...
The Dad George in East is East - when he hits his wife. Made me cry too!
So let me get this straight. Wholesale slaughter of young men and battery of women makes me sad.
You lot blub over fictional SGI?
Have a š
Got to agree with you there bear necessities. Not a dry eye in the houseā¦.
Aye, a load of dust came out the telly at the end of the last episode of educating Yorkshire, where Musharraf gives his speech.
The bedroom gets dusty every time I read, "Love You Forever", by Robert Munsch to my boys
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Love-You-Forever-Robert-Munsch/dp/0920668372
Blooming anything these days. Used to be dead inside but old age/first child has resulted in a few cracks.
Can you get a filler for these things? Want to be my heartless dead inside self again. Is it booze and coke?
I have to admit that those videos of soldiers etc returning home to surprise their kids get me every bloody time!
Bastards the lot of you. Reading this on my phone at my desk at work. I'd forgotten about that lad in Educating Yorkshire. š„
But agree about the war memorials. Attend the Remembrance Day parade in our village as my lad does the parade with the Cubs and Scouts. They read the names from the memorial, ridiculously long list for what at that time was a small farming and mining community. My lad was chosen to do the reading last year "They shall not grow old" etc. I was in bits.
Happy sad at the returning soldiers and airman - too many late nights as a young kid stood waiting in big dark hangers for my dad to get back from tours/exercises.
As well as all the above, can I add the bit in Dead Poet's Society when they all get on their desks and say 'ohh, Captain...'
Ohh and not TV, but anytime I hear The Drugs Don't Work (The Verve) because at the time I was on the verge of losing the love of my life.
And (thanks dad) Floyd's "Shine On...' - he only asked to have it played at his funeral (we all shared his love of the band).
What makes you cry/pulls on the heart strings on tv ?
Strayed from the OP's subject a little eh?
I felt one of those tickly eyelid moments at the end of the My Mad Fat Diary... (I do have a close relative who that programme could be about)
What makes you cry/pulls on the heart strings on tv
Okay, if I am watching Top Of The Pops or MTV....
That Educating Yorkshire thing got me and I still haven't even seen it. The wife was telling me about it in the kitchen and i nearly went.
The olympics tend to get me too. An old mate of mine won a gold in london and my face/throat got a bit hot.
Thank god, so it's not just me then.
TV/ Film: Up & DIY SOS (predictable?)
Music: Johnny Cash, Hurt or Smashing Pumpkins, Siamese Dream
Cheers Prawny
The Paralympics had my in such a dusty roomed state I swear I lost half my body weight in tear-sweat alone.
Though it was through such admiration that by Christ i'd do it all again I tells ya
HEaring You'll never Walk alone a couple of weeks ago had me sobbing.
It had me sobbing too weeksy, though probably for different reasons š
Know a few chaps that have a lower lip tremble when nimrod is played.
Saving private Ryan, at the end, in the grave yard, "was I worth it?"
+1
The whole final episode of Band of Brothers where the real soldiers speak about their experiences, pretty dusty the whole way through that.
12 Years a Slave at the end where he apologises to his family for being away.
Return of the King when Aragorn tell the Hobbits they don't need to kneel
Oh and the start of Up and Toy Story 3 as well.
I found Sunshine on Leith oddly affecting too.
Basically I'm a great big softy
The recent documentary "The Mike Hailwood Story" was a difficult watch.
To see the effect on the family subsequently was pretty heart breaking.
+1 to many of the above, End of Frozen, definitely the end of Toy Story, the start of Up, the end of that First Episode of Hinterland (really sad), the Doctor Who 50th special when Tom Baker turned up (BIG fan when I was a kid and I know it helped to create a lot of demons for him).
+1 for War memorials, WW1 was the opposite of the Battle of Britain, we owe too much to the many, not the few.
Worse since I had kids.
Blooming anything these days. Used to be dead inside but old age/first child has resulted in a few cracks.
By the time number 3 pops out, you're blubbing over a small shoe.
Even the bloody Lego Movie nearly did me.
Worse since I had kids.
I have heard a theory that this is an evolutionary thing to allow men to cope with fatherhood without committing infanticide after their first 6 week stretch of zero sleep.
Decrease testosterone, increase progesterone, puts you in touch with your emotional feminine side.

This might also explain why married men can't park.
deleted, missed the TV reference.. nothing, not even Ian over acting Beale on bloody Eastenders at the moment..
But then I did measure 96% psycho and will vote for UKIP.
Gah, a lot of mine have already been mentioned - the furnace bit of Toy Story 3, the start of Up (and how did THAT ever make it into a kid's film, too?), the end of Marley And Me (ditto), end of Blackadder goes Forth, Senna, Beaches, Steel Magnolias, Watership Down, The Boy Whose Skin Fell Off, It's A Wonderful Life, the end of Warrior, end of Leon, etc etc etc... I think I'm composed of a higher than normal percentage of blouse.
Watching the footy on Sky Sports has had me weeping uncontrollably a few times this season
Following Scotland in the Six Nations is always good for a cry too

Radio 4's Pick of the Week, not every one, obviously, but listen to this, and listen to the piece about Myfanwy. I was in floods.

Perspective, ladies and gentlemen.
Perspective, ladies and gentlemen.
The thing is, if I'm watching something like Schindler's List, Saving Private Ryan, etc then I'm sort of steeled for the fact that it'll be emotional. It's something you are expecting when you go into those films.
Hence why it's the unexpected gut punch from things like kid's films, comedies and daytime reality TV that can really get people.
Errr, Britain's Got Talent, when some kid does something amazing, just seeing the proud parents' faces as they perform.
Now I know BGT is tosh, but there are some amazingly talented kids out there and to be the parent of one must be amazing.
Yes, I am a parent.
DIY SOS, when they do a really shonky job on some poor disabled kid's bedroom, and you just know it will be falling apart within six weeks... š
But seriously, that Educating Yorkshire lad was something else. What an advert for the teaching profession. It was nearly as bad watching the same teacher putting himself in hospital a couple of weeks earlier through stress, overwork, and sheer determination to do right by those kids.
Errr, Britain's Got Talent, when some kid does something amazing, just seeing the proud parents' faces as they perform.
I don't do the talent show thing, but I must confess I've seen the what-ever-it-was that Susan Boyle broke big on, and that weren't half a dusty room I saw that in. š
Another vote for the start of Up
*Cough*
MTFU you lot š
*sobs*
Shurrup you!
Awe c'mon, you lot will be reading BetaMale and owning Axe's, growing Beards, taking kids to skool on your fixies whilst wearing check shirts, jeans with right leg turned up, arranging potted plants, making Bread, stocking up wood burners, feeling your Mrs's "time of the month" in your belly and actually understanding your Mrs's mood swings next..
Bloody Pathetic..
š
Last night's episode of Rev when Colin's dog died of kebab poisoning was unexpectedly tear-jerky
To be honest, I feel a bit sorry for the "big boys don't cry" RealMen ™
Nowt wrong with feeling stuff.
All sorts of things on telly can suddenly trigger a slightly hot feeling around the eyes, but the beginning of Up, does me in every time.
Another one was Buffy, when she gets home, and calls 'Hi mom!' 'Mom?', 'Mom?' 'Mummy?', as she sees her mum lying on the sofa, dead. It was the quavering in her voice as she said 'Mummy?', that just did for me.
This from Toy Story 2
And this from Calendar Girls
