You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
Hello there,
I'm have a small-scale cycle repair business to supplement some other incomes, but as the other work I do is a little flat at the moment, I'm looking to attract more repair customers.
At the moment business comes from flyers on bikes and word of mouth.
My first thought was Yellow Pages, but I wondered if the STW collective had any other suggestions.
As always, all advice gratefully received.
Cheers
Alex
Do the flyers work for you? What return do you achieve on these?
By word of mouth, do you operate a referral system to track the word of mouth. If not, it's worth measuring to see what energy you are putting into these methods first and what the return is.
We operate a £5 'tell a friend' word of mouth system. i.e. after a repair/certain spend you get a voucher. You fill in your details and get a pal to bring it in. Then we credit the original person with a £5 for doing it. Means we can measure and work out its efficacy.
In terms of other angles, go and look at concentrations of cyclists in your area, local hospital staff, students, large companies and work your way into them. Perhaps offering some classes to staff with the HR department on simple fixes for people who might want some tuition. Then these people can become customers.
You need to work out where you want to be and work back from there. Target what your outcome should be and then market towards that.
People love searching on-line. Have you got a good website? You can set one up for free, get a few free links, facebook page and free directory listings. Google adwords can be cost effective for paid advertising.
