Trying to connect my sub to amp. I have a high level input connector which I need to connect to the existing speaker cables. Problem I have is that there are 5 wires coming out of the high level input plug and 4 speaker wires. Any help appreciated.

What's the set up ?
Standard head unit and speakers or are they aftermarket ?
I'm guessing the wires in your bottom picture are the feed from the speakers ?
Standard speakers. Correct about bottom pic.
There are usually 1 or 2 extra wires on a line output converter (often brown in color). These wires are used to ground the shield of the RCA output cables to the head unit. Some amplifiers work fine without them, others don't. If the converter is installed behind the radio, (he) would recommend connecting the shield ground wires to the case of the radio. The next diagram shows a schematic diagram for a simple line output converter
edit: oh, it may also be a remote turn on for your amp.
have you got a link to what you've bought?
Sorry, misunderstood you post, thought you were using a seperate line level converter but you're not, you're using the one built into your amp.
In that case the connections are as follows:
White: Left Positive (+)
White/Black: Left Negative (–)
Black: Common Ground (rarely used)*
Gray: Right Positive (+)
Gray/Black: Right Negative (–)
*The only time you will use the “Common
Ground” connection is with some older (pre-
1980’s) factory systems or head units that ground
their speakers to chassis ground. To use this
connection, ground the black wire on the plug to
chassis ground and only connect the Left and Right
Positive plug wires to the factory radio outputs.
