A snub? The right move? Outdated anyway? Dilligaf?
What we saying?

Meh. It was a sad day when the EU inexplicably failed its bid to have the bulk of UK made " chocolate" designated as vegolate.
Can't say I know anyone who eats Cadbury by choice TBH
It should have lost it years ago. It’s stretching trade descriptions calling chocolate in the first place
Largely DGAF, but still love Cadbury's Caramel and don't care what you say about it.
Been awful since the Kraft takeover. Surprised it took this long to lose it!
I like Cadbury chocolate. I also like other types of chocolate. I'm so cool and diverse!
Certainly won't Boost their sales.
Man who was anointed head of state by hereditary 'right' which inexplicably enables him to give special patronage to commercial entities at will for their commercial gain, elects not to give it to to company that makes unhealthy food manufactured using (in part) indoor factory farmed dairy.
Trying to work out which ****s not to give the most.
Just wondering what ghastly disgustment the Cadbury bashers on here eat instead?
It was a sad day when the EU inexplicably failed its bid to have the bulk of UK made ” chocolate” designated as vegolate.
To the amazement of many Brits, most Europeans are not as enamoured with British milk chocolate bars like Cadbury’s Dairy Milk, Galaxy, Kit Kats, etc. Indeed, one anti-EU oft-repeated mythical claim is that the EU wanted British milk chocolate to be renamed “vegolate” as a means to damage British milk chocolate sales.
Visit the US. You'll be glad of UK Cadbury when you return.

I used to believe that, but then I tried Hershey's. Vile stuff, tastes like it's made from milk powder and cocoa powder, you can do much worse than Cadburys. Still, don't know why the royal family would eat it if they can get posh stuff.
Just wondering what ghastly disgustment the Cadbury bashers on here eat instead?
Seems to be a hot topic all over social media. Each side accusing the other of being flakes.
Making chocolate good enough for royalty is no picnic.
I guess Buckingham palace were hoping it would slip out of the news with barely a ripple
Just wondering what ghastly disgustment the Cadbury bashers on here eat instead?
Ragussa, natch.

And at a pinch, if there's nothing better, then Lindt.
And Galaxy too.
It won't be a bed of Roses for them from now on.
Certainly not as good as it was since Kraft took over, especially Caramels sorry Cha****ng, they were the first one to go bad, can't stand them now.
Still love a boost or double decker, and diary milk. But I am an adjacent brummie, so feel like I have to like it, even if I don't.
For those claiming Cadbury's got worse when Modelez bought it, b0ll***s it was crap before and generally crap now. Though the chocolate coated stuff isn't as bad as dairy milk.
Anyway much rather have Toblerone or Milka.
I feel slightly rippled with a flat underside about it.
I'm firmly in the Dilligaf group. For all the faults of the monarchy, I'm not sure the granting or removal of the royal warrant from Cadbury will make much difference to the fight against oppression.
I still quite like Cadburys, though I prefer other brands from Aldi to Lindt. And no matter what the chocolate snobs think, you can still do a lot worse than Cadburys, whether it's Hersheys or whatever reconstituted goat turd they make cheap tree chocolates out of.
Fair to say, Kraft have made a right fudge with their handling of Cadbury's/
Good. They have been making it incrementally worse for years as there is little real competition. There is definitely a market spot for better chocolate without turning into all that snobby s****y stuff with tasting notes.

im generally in that camp, but if you are in a position of incredible privilege then it is good to use it to express dissatisfaction. Regardless of your views of the product, it apparently well known that both they and Unilever (or respective parent/subsidiaries) are continuing to operate in Russia, who are perceived as our adverseries at the moment. So good not to give them any official approval. I doubt it has a meaningful impact on sales, but it will cause some marketing people a bit of a headache as various packaging all needs to be quickly redesigned.

you may or may not think it is better / worse but mars/galaxy is clear competition in the U.K. so if they had it wrong in delivering what the masses want (cheap sugar and fat hit) the market would have spoken. There is a niche for fancy chocolate - you just need to get over your reverse snobbery!
I am surprised that this hasn't been posted yet

has it been proven that a Royal Warrant brings in extra revenue?
I remember being in Ballater years ago and was impressed with the huge Royal Warrant plaque thing above the shop door. The barman in the pub told me that was where Princess Anne sent her lacky to get her fags.
I feel slightly rippled with a flat underside about it.
I’m unable to decide if I care until I know what the puppet of Trump, our Nige’ thinks.
Enough of our 'nige. Perhaps you should have a time out until you get back on topic
Cadbury's is a bit meh
When I was a kid visiting family in Ireland was great as the Irish Cadbury's chocolate bars were much nicer. Mmmmm Golden Crisp

Very much this.
Anyway much rather have Toblerone
Had some of one recently. It was meh. On par with Cadbury’s - too sweet, barely chocolate flavored, and a poor melt and texture.
Belgian chocolate for the win.
I imagine it won’t help sales abroad more than uk
Is it because it’s no longer technically a British company ?
Their milk chocolate is some of the best still though.
For the chocolate snobs above what is good milk chocolate then ?
For those claiming Cadbury’s got worse when Modelez bought it, b0ll***s it was crap before and generally crap now. Though the chocolate coated stuff isn’t as bad as dairy milk.

It has gone downhill a lot since Mondelez - it might not have been purist chocolate before it was bingeable if you were a fan, but now it is pretty rank and easy to avoid. Try not eating it for a month and then giving it a go.
And Toblerone isn't great either - even if Asda have large bars for £3 instead of £5.5o at the moment...
Vile chocolate anyway.
Just wondering what ghastly disgustment the Cadbury bashers on here eat instead?
Tony's Chocolonely FTW
Tony’s Chocolonely FTW
Just beaten to it. Proper random shape blocks to get your gob around.
Their milk chocolate is some of the best still though.
It really isn't. Very low cocoa content and bulked out with vegetable fat and sugar. I guess it's alright if you don't actually like the taste of cocoa. A bit like a Starbucks Salted Caramel Maple Latte is nice for people who don't like coffee.
that Tony's stuff is a bit pricy for my liking, so I go for Tesco Pecan & Honeycomb, yum
https://www.tesco.com/groceries/en-GB/products/315354721
Cadbury bashers
Is that a euphemism?
Tony's also do some fantastic work on creating a more ethical supply chain. Not that many folk care about such things. I do, so choose to buy their chocolate. Yes, it is a bit more expensive but not only does it taste better, they're actively trying not to **** people over.
Tony’s also do some fantastic work on creating a more ethical supply chain.
This may well be true. But like a lot of ethically sourced, organic, fair trade, [insert tree-hugging label here] product, the end result is overpriced crap. I bought a Tony's something bar, salted caramel maybe. It might well come from sustainable plantations but that's jeff all use when 80% of it went into the bin.
no matter what the chocolate snobs think, you can still do a lot worse than Cadburys
I consider Dairy Milk to be baseline chocolate. Everything else is better or worse than DM.
For all the wah wah Kraft wah complaints the only real downturn I've noticed is in Creme Eggs. I don't know what they've done to them but the chocolate is like wet mortar.
The Tony's stuff is nice - and for most of the last couple of months it's been the cheapest chocolate in Sainsburys because it's been on spesh. Another excellent Sainsbury's chocolate is their 55% Peruvian Dark milk - with sustainably sourced cocoa.
Anyway much rather have Toblerone or Milka
Same company. As is Green & Black's
But I do like Old Jamaica - that's like catnip for me
Just wondering what ghastly disgustment the Cadbury bashers on here eat instead?
Dark(82.7% Coco) chocolate infused with Alpine nettle and just a hint of evaporated Otter P.
Served with some Swqueem* that has been roasted on top of a log burner.
* gathered at high altitude by snowboarding orphans
Very low cocoa content and bulked out with vegetable fat and sugar. I guess it’s alright if you don’t actually like the taste of cocoa
You are completely missing what people buy Cadburys for. It’s the taste and texture of a standard milk chocolate , not dark or artisan bollocks chocolate
We buy posh chocolate which is way different to Cadbury but I didnt think Cadbury was pretending to be artisan rip off choc , just good old choc you first eat as a kid to the day you die
Around the time Kraft took them over Dairy Milk seemed to leave a mildly unpleasant aftertaste that lingered for hours. That's gone now, so I think something was subtly tweaked. To be honest I quite like it now and as far as milk chocolate goes it's relatively healthy compared to most alternatives.
Certainly nowhere near as rank as Hershey's
It’s the taste and texture of a standard milk chocolate
Which I don't like. I'd rather have a single square of decent chocolate than a bar of CDM. And if I was going to eat 'standard milk chocolate, Aldi/Lidl have better options - probably because of their German origins. Even Galaxy has 25% more cocoa in it than CDM. I understand that people are different and have different tastes, but claiming that CDM is decent chocolate is just nonsense.
Cadbury fruit n nut is my favourite or Galaxy mint especially when farmfoods sell it for 69p but you only have a month to eat it, it usually takes me 20mins max
There was a bad taste joke about George Michael and a careless wispa but he was a good guy so not going to repeat it
We bought some locally made chocolate for Christmas pressies the other week. Local couple make it and sell it at the market. Various combinations of milk or dark, with different centres if desired. I think just over 50% of the recipients have actually received their gift, the rest got eaten. Oops.
It was flipping amazing! And what is more amazing is that the chocolate hit is so intense that you can only comfortably eat one. Two is utterly gratuitous.
I'm surprised charlie boy doesn't get his sweeties from them. Maybe I'll send him a link. Although I'm sure he's a long time lurker on here.

Cadburys tastes of fat and sugar to me. It wasn’t until I had some good 70% chocolate called Montezumas, that I realised what chocolate actually tasted like! Cadbury’s so called “dark chocolate” is disgusgusting in comparison. Since then 60% is about my limit.
I like a Dairy Milk - but I’m one of those weird folk who like their chocolate from the fridge too!
As for Royal Warrants…
a) It never even registered with me that Cadburys had one!
b) It makes no difference to me if a business has a Royal Warrant or not.
Bet the shareholders are worried this will take a Chomp out of profits. Hopefully the CEO can pull their Finger out and win it back.
I really like good dark chocolate of various kinds. I used to work with small scale cacao producers and have a reasonable understanding of some of the issues associated with the production of commodities in middle income and least developed counties. I would rather buy fair trade stuff (although it’s not a panacea for the inequalities experienced by producers). But I still like dairy milk and chocolate buttons.
Far as im aware the 'fair trade' logo is a bit of a con.
I remember seeing something about it with Mars*, where the company, so for example imports 1000 tons of choc beans, and 10 ton of free trade choco beans, they can claim all of their chocolate is 'fair trade'
*It may have been another company, but it was one of the big ones.
No, but a finger of fudge is just enough…
At 14 there was a girl at school whose surname was Crudge when that ad was popular. Let's just say that year was not fun for her poor girl.
Euphemism?
'If you like a lot of chocolate on your biscuit join our club.'
@Cougar2 The Creme Egg shell is no longer dairy milk as it saved Mondelez 'loadsamoney'.
Far as im aware the ‘fair trade’ logo is a bit of a con.
I remember seeing something about it
Not fair to spread such vague FUD...
They ruined Creme Eggs, they used to use Dairy Milk on them, and then changed it something awful instead. Bet some bugger got a bonus for it, but I bet long term they've sold less of them.
Tony's for the win, but don't mind occasional Cadbury's. Not a big choc fan TBH. Aldi's with hazelnuts is nice.
I’m one of those weird folk who like their chocolate from the fridge too!
That's quite a good approach with Cadbury's, as you don't get the oily greasy mouthfeel. I like a frozen Mars Bar.
I'd have been more likely to buy some CDM or Whole Nut if it had been Cadbury's that had told the royalists to shove their royal warrant up their own chocolate box and then brought out a new bar called the Republican, with an image of Oliver Cromwell and some link to the New Model Army.
Please please please please let this be known as The War of The Roses.
Stop it.
I heard the other day that the "Hershey Process(tm)" came about because they wanted a chocolate with a high melting point to issue as rations to troops out in the sun all day. How true/apocryphal that is I'll leave as an exercise for the reader.
@Cougar2 The Creme Egg shell is no longer dairy milk as it saved Mondelez ‘loadsamoney’.
Well, that explains a lot.
Don’t think it’s to do with any displeasure at the company’s trading practices, probably haven’t given Charlie enough freebies.
Some people think it’s to do with Mondelez still trading in Russia but other companies that retain the warrant still do, like the baby killing Nestle.
The person that preferred Toblerone- it’s owned by Mondelez too as is Milka
Tony's stuff is vile - I used to like the Lidl Fin Carre bars but since they increased the price so much I've switched to their "Simply" chocolate and find it hard to tell them apart at half the price.

Possibly the same as the theory that M&M's have the sugar coating spotted on smarties in the Spanish Civil War and then copied. Source was No such thing as a fish podcast.
Cadbury 'chocolate' just tastes like sugar and grease to me. Nasty stuff.
