Well its gone. And although the last few seasons had very sticky patches I'll miss it.
Quite an achievement tying it together.
(Unlike 'How I Met Your Mother' that destroyed the whole last series so effortlessly.)
Horrible show. I'm sure they'll keep playing reruns every day for the next 10 years.
There's room enough in the world for both our views. Great place isn't it?
Great show! Agreed that it got a bit patchy but on the whole it was excellent. Quite right to stop it now although to be honest they could have done it a couple of series ago IMO.
Pretty dull IMO.
It started really well, lots of actually funny sci-fi jokes.
I haven't watched it for several series (although it's always on re-run somewhere) because it became like every other US sitcom that gets mauled by an expanding writers' room requiring a laugh every 20 seconds. It was painful to watch at times.
[edit] ...and that is just my opinion. I'm not judging anyone who found the whole thing brilliant, or anyone who hated it in its entirety.
Was quite funny, in the early series.
Last time I saw it they were still acting like teenagers but had saggy middle aged jowls*. I think it has run it's course.
*yes yes they should be mtbers *yawn*
I preferred the early funny ones.
Don't just stand there, take our breasts out!
Used to love it up until halfway, series 6, as I have a few mates not unlike some of the characters. But I thought it jumped the shark a bit of late when Sheldon went from boffin to buffoon.
^^ Was all people watched for really, wasn't it?
I had similar reasons for watching Friends series 1 - 10
Long live Young Sheldon, that's where it's at now.
A bit too autobiographical. “My aunt bought me this stethoscope so I would always have a trade to fall back on if I didn’t make it as a theoretical physicist”
It stopped being funny when they had kids.
Young Sheldon it’s hard to watch.
Goldbergs is ace.
Mostly still very funny although a higher proportion of cringe as the series went on. Can't believe it's been 10 years. But yes, it'll be played endlessly on E4 for the next decade as well.
I liked it, although the canned laughter was way too obvious and just detracted from the show. It's definitely run it's course though so I won't be missing it

12 years!
I'm far too invested in it for a fairly 'throw away' US sit-com.
It's not as it's best any more, but if it was it wouldn't be ending.
It's probably been 4 series too many.
There's a load of points it's dipped. When really early on Howard and Bernadette got together, it ended the Howard and Raj desperate act, Raj has been a spare wheel ever since.
When Kelly got married (the first time) IRL the writers had to change her character completely or she would have left.
The Bernadette that's married to Howard and the Bernadette that worked in the Cheesecake factory are only the same because viewers like Melissa Rauch so much, they're different characters really.
Sheldon is the best character in it, but he's very inconsistent, sometimes he's the almost Autistic Genius, Sometimes it's the egocentric arsehole, and sometimes he's a complete buffoon.
Poor old Leonard on the other hand who started at the star of the show has hardly changed at all, the actor has aged more than the 12 years it's been on would make you think, he's put on a bit of timber and somehow got shorter, but his character is almost unchanged in 12 years and he's mostly background now.
I'm told E4 are canning / resting it for a bit, they're bringing back the series that really wrote the book on not ending when you should do Scrubs!
Bye Bye Penny ;o)
...but yeah I've enjoyed the whole thing. My Wife loves to tell me I have the Social Graces, but none of the intelligence, of Sheldon!
Agree that it's gone off the boil. Peaked around the episode where Sheldon hung out with James Earl Jones. JEJ playing himself was probably the funniest character in the show.
Really enjoying Young Sheldon now, just hope they don't resort to shark jumping for a while.

I missed it altogether, but recently binge watched seasons 1 - 10 on Amazon Prime. The early ones were very good, imho, the later ones clearly weren't but still had some genuine funny moments. The characters are very easy to get to like...
Goldbergs is ace.
so saccharin, even the school bully is quite nice.
Cant argue with the a lot of the criticism but the two part series finale is actually pretty good and worth a watch if you've enjoyed the show during any part of its run.
It stopped being funny when they had kids.
I wouldn't say stopped being funny but it definitely has a negative effect.
Mirroring real life then.
The writers thoughtfully reduced the quality to the point where we didn't care that it was ending.
Wasn’t that Sheldon’s joke about Heroes?
Bye Bye Penny ;o)
Shes quite the one for undressed selfies, plenty on t’internet... 😵
I really should catch up on this at some point. I really enjoyed it but stopped watching... I dunno, somewhere around season 4 I think?
Bye Bye Penny ;o)
Mildly interesting fact about Penny: she has no surname in the show. They never got around to giving her one* and it turned into a bit of a running joke.
(* - Quiet at the back)
I is disappoint.

Until she got married you mean. Presumably she gained one at that point.
I enjoyed watching the odd episode a few years back but after a while all I could hear was canned laughter, but nothing funny behind it.
I can't find it just now but I saw a great youtube video showing laughter cycles, then and now... An episode of the fresh prince, and an episode of big bang theory, with the laughter silenced so you could see how it was paced. And basically, fresh prince still flowed, but big bang had these huge yawning pauses- it'd be line, then everyone just sort of stops for 10 seconds for the laughter track, then carries on. It's not the show's fault, that's just kind of how it's done now but it's pretty ropey.
