I am thinking of pulling the trigger on a second hand CBR 600 FX which is on a SORN. Am i right in thinking all i need to do in order to put some tax on it is take the MOT, my insurance certificate and the new owners tear off bit from the existing V5 to the post office and all will be good in the world?

Can you not get the current owner to retax it for you or do they not have insurance for it?

it's a while since I've done this but basically yes, think there may be a form involved, it is a faff though, always seems to take ages for it all to come together as new owner

but as jova suggested, a lot easier to get the current owner to do it, but guess they are in the same situation as people I have bought SORN stuff from, and that is they have no license now and therefore no insurance to tax it
