What's peoples recent experiences of buying second hand goods from the EU, on ebay ? Did you end up paying VAT & import tax etc ? Looking at a watersports item in Germany, private seller (£600ish), new price if circa £1,800.

You should be paying vat & duty now. But it'll depend on the seller and what they declare on the customs declaration and also what they put on your address - if they include the eBay ref (ebayydghab etc.) Provided with the address.

Selling goods abroad, all post offices now have to ask if items have been declared as goods sold, if they have been sold through a market pace and that information is included digitally with the proof of postage. This is the same for imported goods.

On a £600 item (depending on duty) you could expect to pay between £150 and £180 I'd say. So factor that in to your bidding / bin costs.
