After a pair of AirPods and they have a few pairs in the right condition for a reasonable price.
Are they generally Ok to use? Quality as they state?
Anything to be aware of?

Hope they've been thoroughly de-waxed. Maybe the chain wax thread has some recommendations.

Son bought a steam deck there, wasn't the top grade but the next one down. It was in perfect condition and the only thing wrong with it if you can call it that was it didn't have a box.

I've bought a few things from CEX to build a dedicated Zwift PC and found them to be really good.  They are good with returns and you get a warranty.

I’d buy hardware from CEX, they’re pretty decent about testing and returns.

But I’d never buy secondhand earbuds off anyone, simple for hygiene.

I was about to say the hygiene thing is a non-issue as you'd be buying a pack of new tips to work out the correct tip size anyway. That plan slightly falls down as Apple sell the tips in packs of a specific size rather a pack with multiple sizes in - which makes total sense as you'd normally know what size tip you'd want if they were replacements.

Had a couple of laptops from them before and really good. Need another new one now so will likely use again...

I've had several phones from them, only one arrived in worse condition than expected.  I took it into the local store, they agreed with me and refunded me there and then.

I’ve bought a few things from cex.
Their descriptions have been accurate, on the things Ive had.
Used airpods would be a hard no from me.
But that’s nowt to do wi cex.

Found them to be good. Often cheaper than eBay and you get a warranty and return options. Grading matches my expectations. Top grade camera was as new.

Quite slow delivery compared to others but not terrible

As with everyone else, have bought from Cex before and found them great to deal with, would definitely buy again.

Second hand earbuds are a no.

Never had an issue with them - they are very strict about quality control - once they wouldn't accept an iPhone from me because it had a tiny (and I mean TINY) crack on it and they said they couldn't list it even at the lowest grade. Bought a digital camera for my daughter that was 'A' Grade and it was basically brand new with <100 shutter releases. The only sign it was used was some creasing on the instruction booklet.

I was going to buy some 'B' grade headphones from them, but they would not confirm in advance if they had any marks on them and the definition for 'B' is pretty wide.

The good thing is that if you buy online from them and you are not happy with the condition you can take them back to your local CEX store for a refund or post them back.

I bought some headphones from Cash Converters just after Christmas and they were given 8/10 for condition.

They did not come with the original box and there was one little mark on them.

I would buy from either shop in the future if they had something I was looking for.

I’ve bought a few items from them and never an issue.

I have also sold to them - last thing was a bunch of old camera equipment (ie, 10+ years old digital cameras, memory cards, entry-level lenses etc) and, because you get a better price accepting vouchers rather than cash, managed to get a nice telephoto lens. I cannot fault them in any way at all.

I like CEX, we always pop in when passing to check out the Blu-ray section. Surprised at how much they buy things for though. We had a bag of Disney Infinity and Skylander figures that were going to the charity shop as they were in the house doing nothing years, son wanted a new switch game so he forgot about charity. They took about an hour going through them and had few even they did not want. I think it was 120 cash or 140 vouchers which was a big shock.

Would never buy used ear buds from anywhere never mind CEX 🙂

Just last week I got £50-odd cash in hand for an old Sony Xperia XZ1 Compact from CEX. Other sites were offering value in the region of  £2 or £4.

CeX seem to be selling second hand PS5 consoles for substantially more than you can buy them new. What's going on with that?

Online may be cheaper but there's always a market for stuff that can be bought in person with cash no questions asked. Ill gotten gains are rarely spent frugally,

Call me cynical

Bought a couple of smart watches from them - warranty is great as you get same two year warranty as Samsung. Had a Samsung Active fail after a year (my original did and was warrantied by Samsung, then I smashed the second, so bought via CEX). Third watch failed, so took back to CEX. Got refund and then bought Galaxy Watch 4 with a new 2 year warranty.

My daughter gets her ear pods from them - they may as well be new.

I don't get the squeamishness around second hand ear pods. If they're clean, they're clean, and they can be disinfected with an alcohol wipe.

I bought TW HomePods from CEX, both grade B. Apart from not being boxed they were, and still are, in great condition. I’d be happy buying from them again.

or they may have been bought when there was limited supply, and aren’t ready to take a loss yet?

Or they have sold stuff, have loads of store credit and are willing to pay a higher price.

Yeah I got my PS5 slim disc edition for £409 in Smyths Toys and could have paid cash if I'd wanted. Using up store credit in CeX sounds a likely reason to pay more.

Bought the Dell laptop I'm using now from CEX, along with the docking station for it etc.

Was listed as B grade but in all honestly if they had called it A grade I wouldn't have quibbled.

I would t on account of battery life not hygiene. I could trade mine in. Boxed, immaculate A grade, wireless charging. But the batteries die after about 45min out with the dog. So I’ve gone back to wired. I’m not that person, but others might be. And how will they test them for battery life in use?
